I currently have a super dish connected to 119,121 and 110. I am planning on upgrading to HD and need a second dish for 61.5 (I am out of the footprint of 129).

I was talking to a personal installing Dish and he said when the Providence locals (standard def) are moved to 110 the I can us two smaller dishes. One dish for 119 and 110 and the second dish for 61.5.

I was looking around the forms and thought I read that the channels have been moved, but when I called Dish they said they have not moved them yet. Does anyone know when the Providence locals will be moving to 110. I would rather wait to upgrade if I can use the two smaller dishes.

Thanks,
Ken

Providence locals were added to 61.5 this week.
They are available there as well as 121.

That means I can use two small dishes. I wonder why when I called Dish I was told I still need the super dish and a smaller dish. I only need two small dishes.

Would it be better for me to call a local installer?

Thanks for the help,
Ken

I wonder why when I called Dish I was told I still need the super dish and a smaller dish. I only need two small dishes. What you need is an additional small dish. As you might guess, Dish doesn't want to have to install two dishes when they can just add one.

What happens is the installer will disconnect the 121 horn and hook in the new 61.5 dish to your DP34. You'll need one cable for each tuner (one for ViP211/411, two for ViP622).

If you have your heart set on using matching antennae, I would suggest negotiating with a local company that does their own installs.

You're not going to end up with more than four tuners, are you?

No I do not plan on having four tuners. I curretlly have two 625s and want to update one of them to a vip622. So I guess the installer just has to add the second dish and then swap out the 625 to a vip622. The I will have HD and smile on my face :D .
