View Full Version : Getting conflicting answers: 2 500s vs. 1 1000 in NYC
Hi. 3 different reps at Dish Network and 2 local installers are all giving me conflicting answers as to which dish setup I actually need to have access to all HD channels from New York City which I believe is 110,119, and 61.5
I trust the people here more than those Dish reps for sure!
So, do I need 2 Dish 500s or do I need 1 1000 ?
Which is better for signal strength, reliability, rainfade, etc..
Thanks

The Dish 1000 will not serve you well in NYC. You need to use the two dish solution -- one for 119° and 110° and another for 61.5° (where NYC HD locals are). D1000's cannot receive 119°/110° and 61.5° so it's two dishes for you!

Along with NYC locals, 61.5° has the same national HD programming as 129° plus the Demo channel and an MPEG-2 feed of CBS-NY.

And don't forget about those Public intrest channels that are on 61.5.

Public Interest on 61.5 ARE mirrored on 129.

Actually they are mirrored on 148, not 129. You won't see Classic Arts Showcase, the Pentagon Channel, or the Holistic Living Channel if you do not have a dish looking at 61.5 or 148.
