View Full Version : Lost some channels, but now get new channels...WHY?
The last couple days my 522 receiver has been having a problem aquiring the signal. It eventually comes back though. Last night it was having problems again and I reset the receiver. When it finally came back, I had lost many channels that I had been receiving, and I am now getting local channels that I was not able to receive before because I didn't have the second dish. These channels that I lost are not even showing up in my favorites any longer. Any Idea how this could happen? I like being able to have these local channels, but how do I get all my other channels back?
Thanks,
Tony
Are you sure you are on the right favorites list? Perhaps you pressed the Guide button multiple times without knowing it and changed to a different list than you expect to see. Press the Guide button until it says All Subs to see all the channels you can get or All HD to see just the HD channels.
No, thats not it. Those channels I lost are not even showing up in ALL Sub or ALL Channels
Do a check switch and it will force a new download of the Guide data. Perhaps you don't have all the right Guide for some reason. If that does not help, you might as well call Dish to get the real story.

Interesting, I didn't realize it did that. It was after I did a Switch test that I got the new channels and lost my old ones. If I had lost the satellite signal when I was doing the switch test, would it not download the guild information for the channels on that particular satellite? Sattelite 119 had little or no signal, but 110 was strong.
I'm not sure how smart the Guide download process is, but it sounds likely it would not download data for channels you could not access when the download occurred. If you are getting both sats now do a new download and see what you get.

How do I force a new download? By doinfg a switch test? Any other way?

You mentioned that you had little or no signal on 119. I believe the guide information is on the "odd" transponder side of 119, so until and unless you get the signal problem resolved first you may not be able to get a guide downloaded.

The guide information is available from every satellite location used by DISH except 118.75. Because he said 110 is ok, the lack of 119 is irrelevant when it comes to downloading a guide.
