I asked the station via an email and haven't heard back yet. It has been 4 days so that might give someone ideas why Dish hasn't added their station in hd yet. They never answer their emails.

I sent an email to channel 2 about a week ago, no answer. (I've never gotten a reply from them on anything I've sent, about 6 emails total.) I did notice an ad, don't remember where, late last week that said something like, "you can receive channel two in high def on Directv", guess that pretty well sums it up, E* won't be sending it in HD anytime soon. I get it ota but I think its cheesy they're holding out on E*; about a year or so ago (haven't checked lately) they were showing their 4pm & 5pm news broadcast were in hd (according to Titan tv), I notified (email) channel two about the discrepancy and why couldn't I see it in hd, no answer.

I spoke with the engineering dept. last week ( via telephone) about this issue, I was told that the re-transmit aggreement has a target competion date of July 21 or sooner. The person I spoke with was confident that KPRC would be up and running on E by then.

I am sure the picture quality of the new hd Nbc channel will be as bad as the Cbs hd channel in full CRAPPY mpeg 4 - complete with motion artifacts galore during panning scenes.

GOD I wish Dish could learn how to do mpeg 4 correctly!

Good news! It looks like Dish finally learned how to do the mpeg 4 on my hd Cbs station in Houston. I can finally report that it looks as good as the ota verison or the Cbs hd station 9483 in New York. I can tell no difference in picture quality or the panning shots . I sent an email off to the dishquality folks to tell them Congratulations on a job well done. See complaining by sending emails does pay off eventually.

Now if they could just apply the same thing to the Starz hd station I would be estatic.

BgThangJany, do you subscribe to the locals? I get it as channel "002-00", my understanding is it's available in hd only if you subscribe to the locals, unless you can get it with an ota (over the air antenna).

Edit: the other channels are not in hd, these are the ones that show the local weather map, etc.

Be sure the program you are watching on 02-00 is actually an hd program; for example watch "The Tonight Show: Jay Leno" or "The Conan Obrien Show", I know these are broadcast in hd. I don't believe that "Americas Got Talent" is shot in hd; all of the "Law & Order" shows are. (At least the last couple of years)

What I was asking was can I pick up the HD NBC feed. I get CBS HD from NY or someplace like that.Dish told me that I might not ever be able to pick up ABC HD or NBC HD.I live north of Houston 150 mi. And I receive houston channels. Ubankit said the channel is 002-00 if I punch that in I will get it?

Chucksvstar: try it and see; my understanding is that if you subscribe to the locals and the hd locals are available (which the Houston locals are) you should be able to receive them. Of course if it is not an hd program then you'll see it in sd (standard definition). Do you get all the locals thru dish (abc 13; cbs 11; fox 26). Most of the programming on the locals during the daytime is sd (with the exception of "The Young & the Restless" soap that airs at 11 am), you can look at the primetime (7 till 10 pm) weeknites for more hd programming (such as all the "CSI" shows; Law & Order series; David Letterman Show; Lost; and there are a bunch more. See Titantv.com for a complete listing.

I show the channels to be 6389, 6390, 6391 & 6392 for the locals ((which I didn't know those channels existed as I use 02-00, 011-00, etc) I checked the cbs channel(forget which one it is) at 11:10 and indeed I do show it broadcasting "The Young & the Restless" in hd, I learned something new today:)
You do have to have a receiver (either a 622 or 211 (?, I think is the model of the non-dvr) to see these channels as they are sent in mpeg4 format (I have a 622).
Hope this helps.

I have the hd priority enabeled on the locals menu and this puts all my hd locals inplace of the sd on 2,11,13 and 26. I also have the 6300 hd channels locked out ( under the locks menu)so they don't crowd my hd guide , so I only get the low numbered counterparts instead of both.
