I wa reading on a post here that the satellite signal actually comes from 20 degrees higher than the angle of your dish. I live in a hilly area that requires the 1.8 meter dish and to survey a site at the required 26 degrees several homes seem to not be eligible. If indeed the signal comes from 20 degrees higher does that effect how I do my surveys? Please help.

Nope. Do the site survey per the known angle to the satellite. The dish "looks" at that spot in the sky, but appears to be looking 20 degrees lower. The dish is an "offset" dish, meaning that the arm that holds the LNB is offset from the center point of the dish by about 20 degrees. The elevation markings on the dish take the 20 degree offset into consideration, meaning that when the dish is set to the required angle it appears to be aimed 20 degrees below the angle. I hope this makes some sense (not sence). :D

To put it another way, the signal comes in at a high enough angle that the feed casts the "shadow" on the rim of the pan.
If the antenna is lined up on the satellite, when you look from behind and under the dish the satellite (if it were visible) would appear just behind and under the top edge of the LNBF.
Clear as mud?

Thanks, I knew there was an easy explaination. This site is a wealth of info.
