Anyone know why my PBS (DISH) channels wont come through? I get a message its looking for signal but never get a picture. Do they have a block on them if your out of the area you signed up at and dont live anymore? :D

Thanks

Sorry but I dont understand how that would affect me getting the channel? My signal strength is in the upper 90's.

What market in NC? Depending on how far you are from the designated mrket you signed up in you may actually be receiving a different spotbeam.

I don't remember exactly how I had things configured right now (we've had Charter CATV for the past several months -- they would let me have a "minimal subscription" since I am out of town a lot -- a personal gripe), but, I believe we had a 4 way splitter & a 2 way coming from that (4 tvs with one of them being a dual-tuner DVR).

This may not be theoretically "correct", but, I designed it and it worked - for the most part. However, we had certain transponders that would refuse to show up on the satellite receiver (would get the searching for signal message), while, with other transponders off the same satellite, we would have a perfect (near 100%) signal strength.

Depending on what DMA in NC you are in, Dish may & probably uses a different transponder for PBS delivery, so this may be an issue. But...I think some of my problems were related to how I had my system configured. Not saying that you do---but could this be the issue?

Some stations were recently moved off the "wing sats" onto the core.

NC, like many other states, has a statewide PBS network that serves a number of different markets. Thus, the PBS signal may not be on the same spot and/or transponder as other locals in some markets, so it's possible you could be out of the beam for PBS but not your other locals.

Need more specific info.
