View Full Version : REN Equivalence?
I'm not sure if this is posted in the right place, but what is the REN equivalence for (a) 301 receiver, (b) 501 PVR and (c) 811 HD receiver??
Thx!:) :)
REN: Ringer Equivalence Number - the impedance (electrical resistance) value of a telephone or other device connected to a phone line.

I bet the phone company does not even care anymore about the REN Equiv.

Perhaps the phone company doesn't, but I have VOIP and need to manage my total REN equivalents since several of my phones have a dial tone, but no ring since I am sure the PAP doesn't provide more than 3 REN and I am sure I have significantly more than that.

All of my DISH equipment is connected by the telephone lines as required.

Any equipment connected to phone lines must comply with FCC part 68 regulations which require the device to display two numbers, the FCC registration number and the REN. My 301 receiver says REN = 0.1B or 0.3B.

The ring equivalence for the Echostar receives can be found in the acta product identifier. Its on the back of the receiver in the form of US:AAAEQ##TXXX. This is the number that the phone number may require if they are concerned with the compliance (most aren't any more as most devices connecting to the phone lines are compliant). The ## is the ring equivalence. For my 622 that number is 03 which means 0.3.
Benerally you don't wnat to exceed 5.0 adding all the devices connecting to a line.
