Good news is I qualified for the free upgrade on the HR10-250. Sadly that is the only good news I have so far. The install was this afternoon ..... Where to begin with everything that went wrong. They did show up within the time window given so I will give them that. I had a single LNB dish up and was told that a new 5LNB dish would be installed. That didn't happen. They put up a triple LNB which I understand should be fine as the HR10-250 will not support the MPEG-4 so okay I can live with that until they come out with the replacement that will support MPEG-4. They were to move my existing Tivo to the master bedroom which meant running another line in there. Here is where the fun begins. They were unable to drill through my wall as their drill started smoking halfway through. Instead they just punched a hole in the side piece of my window A/C (you know the plastic fan part) in the room. Nice so far huh. They "finish" hooking everything up and now can't figure out why the new Tivo will not successfully acquire the information from the Satellite. I ask if they replaced my 4x4 switch. They hadn't so they go down and do that. Still no luck. Here come to find out that what they did was instead of running all 4 lines down to the switch and then running a new line for the old tivo that was moved they just had the two incoming lines going down to the basement and ran the second one for the bedroom tivo directly off the dish into the bedroom. Not to mention using a 4x8 multiswitch (isn't it supposed to be 6x8) At this point there was nothing they could do as their drill was not working. I called Direct to let them know and also to inform them to take my old unit from the bedroom out of service as they took that with them. That was not a leased unit but okay I can live with that as long as Direct TV takes the unit and access card info out of service. To top it all off..... my OTA channels now have no sound nor do any channels using Dolby Digital audio (using the HDMI port) they did at first then gave out after about three hours.

So now I am planning on calling them again tomorrow and insist that they call the install company and request a supervisor from there come to the install..... they can also bring the proper dish and probably a new HR10-250 box cause of the audio problem which from everything I read is probably an issue with the HDMI port. What else should I push for?

"What else should I push for?"

Well, how about getting your Tivo back, or appropriate $ credit on your account, after all it was owned. Getting the air conditioner fixed. And getting a few months free service for the incompetence and inconvenience.

It wasn't the tivo box they took that was moved to the master bedroom. It was just an old basic receiver (Phillips dsx5500 if I remember right). I am just dumbfounded by the incompetence of DirectTV installers. The first time they came to my house the guy was here for believe it or not over 8 hours. Then the dish fell right off my roof within the first week. These two clowns left wires dangling down the back of my house and a general mess everywhere they went.

I'd demand they replace the part they punched a hole through on the A/C and install the line properly amoung other things...

On a side note, you don't need a 6 x 8 multiswitch for the Phase III.

Right mjones... BUT if they were to install the AT9 like I was told they were going to do that would need the 6x8 multiswitch correct? I am asking because when I call them back I am going to push for the dish I was told was going to be installed.

In that case, yes, you need a Zinwell WB68 6 x 8 switch.

So, have they been back yet, and how did it go?

Who was it that they sent out?
I try not to get them to send anyone out, I do it myself, and if they insist, I say fine let them come out. When they get here whatever it is they have to do is always already done(by me)! Sign the work order and send them ontheir way. Don't want things like this happening to me. These subcontractor guys they send out just scare the H*LL out of me!
