I saw this mentioned in another thread and it sorta peaked my interest. Does the HR10 pass Dolby Digital through the HDMI port or not? Mine never has, but someone mentioned that theirs did for a short while then crapped out. Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks!

Hmm, not sure if this is related but...
I ran an HDMI to my Samsung DLP. If I had Dolby Digital recording switched 'on' at the receiver, I lose the dialog on anything (movies, etc.) shown with Dolby Digital. If I turn off DD recording, then it works fine. I now just run an HDMI-->DVI cable with L-R cable to the TV.

To record and output Dolby Digital, you have to set it in your audio preferences. You'll lose the Tivo beeps during DD broadcasts, but you will output in DD through HDMI.

My setup is HDMI to TV, digital coax out to receiver. I get 5.1 DD.

I do have a problem with the digital toslink straight to the receiver. There is a fraction of a second delay in the audio, which is a pain, so I run through the TV. Only the HR10 has this problem - DVD to the receiver has no delay, so this seems to be a bug with the HR10.

I hook all three of mine up exactly like you and do not have the delay you are talking about on any of my systems. I wonder if it could be the input on your receiver? I guess swapping toslinks on your receiver would tell you.

The same cable, when connected to my DVD player, doesn't have the delay. Very strange.

Strange. I use the Toslink connection and don't have this problem.

In fact, I have two DirecTivos -- an HR10-250 and an SD-DVR80 -- as well as an Xbox there. All three plug into a Toslink switch, which then plugs into my receiver. No delays from any of the boxes.
