Does anyone want to give this mystery a shot?

We have two R15 receivers. One in the living room and one in the master bedroom. In addition, we have a standard receiver in my daughters bedroom.

While watching TV in the master bedroom, the picture went black and white. I didn't think it could be the TV because it is only 4 months old. --- I pop in a DVD and it plays in color. I then pop on some rabbit ears for local channels and it is color too.

Sooooo. I go out today and buy a new R15 ----- Guess what, my picture is in black and white again.

I've eliminated just about all the wiring, using the new wires supplied with the new R15 ---- Could it be the cable from the multiswitch? Could it be the multiswitch?

Can a multiswitch only go out and effect one TV and not the other 2?

I am at a loss

Thanks-

How is the R15 connected to the TV? RF, S-video or composite? First make sure you have a good connection (unplug and re-plug). If that doesn't fix it, try using one of the other connections and see what happens.

The multiswitch is not at fault.

It is something between the R15 and your TV
Try using different cables, or even possible use RF channel 3/4 connection

Like I said, I've eliminated just about all the wiring, using the new wires supplied with the new R15.

I have used 5 different S video cables. I haven't a clue as to what is happening.

I would say the R15 needs replaced.

As his original post states, he's been there, done that. The new R15 has the same problem.

So you've tried s-video, RCA and coax cables? You could move the TV from your daughters romm to the master BR to eliminate the TV.

Is this a new setup, or did just sudenlly change?

I have not tried to eliminate the S video and go with only RCA jacks. I'll give that a shot.

It is an old setup. The DVR is an older Hughes model. Off and on the DVR would get REAL slow using the menu, it would take 3-4 mintes to go from one menu item to another. I'd reboot and this would fix it for awhile.

Perhaps it is the S video terminal on the TV

Thanks for your help!

I know on my TV, I have individual color settings for each input. Have you tried adjusting the color when selecting the input you use for that tv?

Hey - Problem solved!

The whole block of jacks are fried. All 3 RCA jacks and the S video jack. I re-directed everything through another set of RCA jacks - No S video - And the picture is actually BETTER without the S video.

Thanks to everyone who helped me solve this issue!

PS - We decided to keep the new DVR as the old one was 2 years old anyway.
