View Full Version : Why do PPV's take so long to show up on bill?

I've noticed that it seems to take at least 2 or more months for a PPV to show up on a bill? Why is that?

I have some PPV coupons I want to use up that expire on 8/31. But it says on the back of the coupon 'make sure that PPV is listed on bill'.

but if I wait 2 months for it to show up, the coupons will be expired and I can't use them.

I swear they do stuff like this on purpose.

Use your online account...they show up the next day under recent activity :)

I was wondering about that. Does it cost any extra to use the online feature? I thought I read that somewhere here?

I assume they do not if the PPV is ordered by Remote.

Does not matter how they are ordered....online, phone, DishComm, they all post next day to recent activity on your online account.

I think you'll find you are incorrect, and that is the reason the OP is not seeing the bill on his statement for up to two months. Dish does not know that you have purchased a PPV until the modem phones home at which time it knows what event, time, date, etc.

Ya it takes about 2 months for it to show up. Is there a way to 'force' the reciever to send the info? I've checked the system status, and it says 'no phone pending' or something like that on the phone connection screen. (dvr 508). Back in December I ordered a PPV, and it didn't show up until my March bill I believe. I was starting to think I got it for free.

So if I order online, they will show up the next day for sure? I still have 3 more coupons I need to use by 8/31.

It's been my experience that if you don't have the phone line hooked up PPVs could take several months to show up, until the receiver dials out. If the receiver is hooked in with the phone line, whenever the receiver is scheduled to dial out again (mine is around the 5th of every month), the PPV will show up on the bill after that, which means the PPV will be due a month later after the receiver dialed out.

I know there use to be a $1 fee if a PPV is ordered through your account or the phone, but I can only find it in the 'Residential Agreement' in the fee section where it says 'Pay-Per-View Automated Fee: $1.00'.

Is there any way to 'force' the receiver to dial out early?

If you have a PPV on your machine you can force the newer machines to phone home. Once they do they should show up on your bill.

It's a 508, is it possible on that?

I am unaware of any method of forcing any of the STB's to dial out and report PPV's. I believe if you accumulate 6 PPV's, the box dial out to report at the earliest opportunity (usuall the wee hours of the morning). Please share the method of this forcing of a dial out.

On most recent receivers, you can request dial out from the diagnostic menu 6-3. There were ways to force dial out on many other models.
