Ok,
I have been hounding retention for almost a week and I cant get the HD-DVR for free. So I am going to go about it another way. Should I go ahead and get the H20 since I am in a MPEG-4 market and get a separate DVR and just wait till the MPEG-4 HD-DVRs come out then call then back and hound retention for a free one? They said they cant do anything for me right now b/c I dont have service. Think this is the best route?

If you want one don't be so cheap, pay the asking price so the rest of us don't have to pay for it through higher monthly pates

Basically thats what I did, had the H20 and R15 hooked to the same tv, then saw the post about HR10-250 and got the deal. So until the HR20 comes out, I have H20 and HR10 to the same tv and the R15 in the bedroom and retired the R10 (I've been with D* about 10 years)
So, yes, if I were you get the H20 and AT9 dish now. Get your account established and then try to get in on the deal for the HR10 unless they have the HR20 by then.

Thanks for the help. Plan on signing up tonight! Hope the HR20 hurries up and gets here.

You won't get the HD DVR outright for free no matter what you do as a new customer and the only existing customers getting them for free now are past Sunday Ticket subscribers.

Free?? I remember happily paying $1000 for mine more than 2 years ago.

Exactly

They said they cant do anything for me right now b/c I dont have service. I'd wait at least until you are ready to turn the service back on. I would be very careful about jumping before you can get exactly the hardware that you want as those 24 month commitments can be a killer if what you really want comes out three months later.
