I'm currently a Comcast cable subscriber and I'm finally getting fed up with the high prices that I'm getting hit with by them. I'm looking at switching to Dish mainly because of the amount of HD content availible (20+ channels versus Com's 8).
Here is what I am wondering. I have a HDTV downstairs and a HDTV in the bedroom. I want DVR on the one downstairs but not up. I also have 1 standard TV. How many boxes will they give me? Also I am a Vonage subscriber, will that cause any problems?
Also is everyone here satisfied with the service and broadcast quality of Dish?
Also will they replace defective equipment and at what cost to me?

How many boxes will they give me?They will lease you a ViP622 for the downstairs HDTV and the SDTV. I'm not sure what they will do about the pricing on a ViP211 for the bedroom TV.Also I am a Vonage subscriber, will that cause any problems?Your mileage may vary. Dish will want both receivers connected. Most have reported that Vonage works fine, but some have had problems. I think it has something to do with dialing a special modem access code.
All equipment has a one year warranty. There is also a supplemental Dish Home Protection Plan that covers other gear as well as covering shipping costs.

My stumbling block with VOIP was trying to get a high speed fax machine to run on it. In my opinion the bandwidth of your upstream connection to the internet is very valuable for data over VOIP.

Just chatted with a rep. I would get the 622 for $199 and then the 211 would have a lease fee of $6/month so after startup fees I would still come out cheaper than my current cable and have more HD channels.
Now just have to see if I have LOS.
