View Full Version : Does the online "Add Programming" function actually work?

I have yet to be able to add programming through Dish's web site. It always tells me that it can't do it and try again later or call the 800#. Very odd. You'd think the fewer calls to the 800#, the better for them. :shrug:

Yes, I've used it in the past.
You can't remove programing, but you should be able to add the programing that's listed as available to add. (ie special events, ect you have to do via phone)
I assume you are logged into your Dish Network online account when you try to add.

Yeah, I was logged in. It's never worked for me. I really wish it would because I can't stand waiting on hold for someone who will probably mess up my programming.

Today I upgraded from Americas 60Plus to Americas 180 online.
I feel Dish Network's website works much better than Directv's.

Hmm. I was trying to go from Dish Family to Top180. The only thing I can think of is that I currently subscribe to the Encore pack and that may be blocking the upgrade. Of course in the past, I tried to add Locals and it wouldn't let me do that without calling either.

I have Top 180. I went there to check it out and if I click on upgrade it says I can upgrade to Top 180.

Go figure. :rolleyes:

Does that mean you'd actually be getting Top 360? :D

I ended up just calling to upgrade.

It has worked fine for me adding premiums (HBO, Showtime) and distant NETs when they were still available. I have not tried changing my programming package online, however.

Didn't like Dish Family eh? You can use the V-chip to block channels that you don't want your kids watching. Just E-mail ceo@echostar.com and give them your Account #. Works for me. Good luck!

Nah, I had gone with Dish Family for financial reasons more than content reasons. I've already got the channels I don't want the kiddos watching blocked.

adding programming in DN site is pretty pathethic. It has not been updated in ages. They still do not show the HD metallic packs. It would be much easier to do it online than to freaking wait on hold just to get someone who can't understand what you are saying and that you can't understand what you're saying

I only get that message when I click on the Local Channels link(https://customersupport.dishnetwork.com/customercare/locals/prepLocals.do). Which programming item were you clicking on?

Top 180 (I had Dish Family). I did it several times over a 2-day period and got the same message every time. I'll bet their revenue would go up if they'd get that working because, as mentioned, many people are more likely to upgrade if they don't have to wait on hold for 30 minutes only to talk to someone who will screw up their account.
