No "5th" Sattelite signal

When the guy installed my 5 LNB dish one of the 5 didnt get a signal. He said its because that sat isnt used right now. Is this true or was he BS'ing me just to get the install done?

Do you remember which one? For me, 99 isn't operational yet, but I think it's an area thing and that actually does get used in some places. But chances are, you're ok.

I think you should be able to see a satellite in all 5 slots. I can see all 5 slots. It might not be alligned correctly or bad equipment. Anybody correct me if I am wrong.

It's possible not to see one or the other, they are spot beam sats and it's possible there is no spot beam from the sat in question hitting your area at the moment.

I believe the 99 and the 103 are serving the country, starting on opposite coasts, but I cant remember exactly...yeah, you need one or the other though.
