When I signed up for D* about a year ago. I took the 4 free receivers when I only needed two. The tech said, just activate them now then in a day or two, deactivate them. He told me to do that so I can have extra receivers as backup in case the other ones went bad. Well, I a couple of months after that, I upgraded both of my standard receivers to DVRs. So, now I have 4 standard receivers sitting in my closet. My question is, since I plan on keeping my DVRs, could I sell my 4 standard receivers since I will no longer use them? Yes, I do own my equipment. I just wasn't sure if someone bought my receivers that they could use them or not since my D* account is still active. I am not sure if D* keeps those receivers listed on my account and if that is the case, they will not allow activation of those receivers on someone else's account.

Call and make sure all 4 are deactivated, and you can sell them. the buyer will be responsible for getting access cards for each receiver they activate.

Hey, keep one, you never know when you may need one to :

1)do diagnostics, since each receiver has a signal meter inside
2)one of your other receivers does a dump, or a power surge takes them out
3)you may want to get a seperate dish, and activate one of them as a spare when you go camping :)

They should be deactivated. It's months. They aren't charging me for any additional receivers beyond the two DVRs that I currently use. So I should be ok? As for needing a backup, I got the protection plan. I got it when I got the DVRs.
