I'm assuming I should use the digital output on the back of the 622 if I want the best picture. My Panasonic has an HDMI input on the back of it. I'm not familiar with these different connectors. What is the 622 output "plug" called? Where can a person get the proper cable, and what do you call it?

The HDTV Output is an HDMI output, so you need an HDMI cable. You can get them really cheap online. I personally bought mine from Pacific Cable and it's been flawless. Others here have indicated monoprice.com is a great place as well.
From what I've heard, since DISH doesn't completely follow the HDMI spec, i.e. they are only sending 2 channel audio over this output right now, they call it an HDTV Output instead of HDMI.
Agreed, you simply need an HDMI to HDMI cable. (i.e. with an HDMI connector at both ends).
DON'T buy in a local store, they will be WAY over priced. I just bought a Monster (from what I hear a good brand) HDMI to DVI cable online for $20, about $70 cheaper than I could find the same cable locally.

I'm guessing you have a DVI to HDMI adapter on the DVI end?

Can you get HD output over component cables with the 622?
Yes you can. It is analog rather than digital but it's still HD.

Not only can you do it, but some people prefer it. I'm on the fence. Some content looks better of component and others look better over HDMI. I suggest you try both and use the output your eyes prefer.

:welcome_s to the forum psincubus. Alway nice to see a new face around.

Nope, my TV only has DVI in, and the 622 HDMI out. So the HDMI to DVI cable is exactly what I need.
As for component vs HDMI, there has been a lot of talk about the relative merits. To my eyes the component seemed to have a greater contrast and deeper blacks, but at the same time I lost information in the black. i.e. what I could see detail in on the HDMI output I could just see shadow and black on component. Like everything, try it out and see what you like the most!
