View Full Version : Why did my DirecTiVos suddently stopped receiving Sat 101's odd transponders?

My setup: 3LNB dish -> 4/8 multiswitch -> four DirecTiVos

The happened yesterday and I only noticed it because channels 354, 356, 360,
and possibly a few other went blank. The on-screen menu says there's no
signal on sat input 1 or 2. I went into the sat signal menu and everything
seemed fine, until I discovered there are absolutely no signal from
the odd transponders on satellite 101.

DirecTV is sending out someone, but not until late next week.... is there
something that I can do to solve this? Is it possible that the extreme heat
in the last few days "fried" my multiswitch in the attic? Outside temps have been
99 to 103, and even hotter in the attic....

Thanks for your help! :)

Odd number transponders use 13 volts to select them. This voltage could come either from the receivers or there might be a separate power supply plugged into the MultiSwitch. I've seen it both ways. Either way, you've either lost your 13v signalling voltage or the MultiSwitch is fried or 1 side of your LNB (at the dish) is fried. You can check the LNB simply by reversing the "A" LNB input cables. If all of a sudden you then lose the even transponders then 1/2 of the dual LNB is toast. Check the multiswitch by bypassing it, hook one of your receivers directly to one of the "A" LNB input cables then check again from THAT receiver.
