Forewarned, I am a newbie to all of this.

I currently have a cottage in Canada (live in Michigan) and am subscribing to Bell ExpressVu. I am far from impressed with the programming that Bell provides.

My questions is:

Is there anything that prevents me from installing Dish Network at my home in Michigan, and then setting up a dish at the cottage in Canada to act as a second signal receiving Dish Network?

Obviously the billing address would be in Michigan.

Once again, I am very new to all of this.

there's nothing physically preventing you from doing this, but it is an illegal practice

I would even be willing to pay two bills! Anything for some Detroit feeds and Fox Sports Detroit!

If only a legal option existed.

Well they might hesitate to let you pay for an address in Canada since they hold no license to provide service there.

To make this work you would have to tell ythem that the second service address was in the US. And you would be responsible for your own service---they won't send a crew to Canada.

as BFG said, it's illegal!

Just set up a Dish500 and take the receiver with you on weekends. You have to bring it back when you come home. You can't leave it there permanently (but people have done it) :)

That is exactly what I was thinking about doing. I've also been reading that ExpressVu and Dish Network use the same satellites. Would I even have to adjust my dish at all?

yes you would

ExpressVu uses 82 & 91
Dish is 110/119 for the main two

They're in different spots in the sky
