Answer: ETV India and PTC Punjabi not on DirecTV. Looks like the cost of carriage is too high on DirecTV.

Answer: Did August 15th come and gone? Since those channels you mention, have a stream online in 576i PAL standard. ETNow right now, is not talking to North America at the moment.

BON, going by the guide, seems like a Chinese American channel. Also quizzer, I don't think that Star Plus with the idea of telecasting at the same time will work very well. India's prime time dramas will be watched a different time around the world.

I guess by same day they mean 12 hours lag, meaning 9PM in India will equate to 9PM CST or so.

You are right Quizzer. The shows are almost 8 years old repeat shows. It is not worth it.

Zee smile is surely a hopeless channel. It cannot compete with Sab. No way.

Zee business is leading business channel and is known for fresh and innovative programming. So, hopefully, this was a better choice compared to cnbc or other business channels. Time will tell. Yesterday, they had Arvind Kejriwal for an interview. I watched 15 minutes and it was awesome. Effective and no BS.

According to the channel distributor if viewers do not bring it to their attention they are not aware of it...i complained to them and was able to get it somewhat right. Now it is off by ONE HOUR. The number to call is 817-795-5201. They look after some south asian channles in the U.S.
Also, the email address to the dept is southasiantv@dishnetwork.com .
Please call them and write to them so it can be taken care of...Star tv is Sagnik.Roy@us.startv.com

I got a letter in mail from DirecTV that soon they will stop carrying the 3 NDTV channels and are reducing the price accordingly....

I think it is useless to keep it since NDTV was the reason I have been with them for so many years....

@jaguar: They could drop Zee Smile. That is one of the stupidest channel in the mega pack. Worthless. Instead they could add NDTV Profit. I hope adding channels doesn't stop. There is always a possibility that they use different transponder on 118.7 for internationals, right?

yes price will remain same for english news. true, we want dishnetwork to choose right channels for us. like zee smile no one really wants channels like that but its all up to southasian programming management and depends on channel owner and how they sign contract for distribute channels. ndtv profit should be in hindi mega pack and they can remove zee smile or just keep but we need ndtv profit. adding one more channel can not make much difference for them but it can make customers very happy. hope they add it soon. as for transponder all satellite can have limited transponders. 118.7 has 33 and most of them are full with channels, but still some spots are there for new channels. they can not add extra transponder as 33 is technically max for now for 118.7.

I had subscribed to Watchindia.tv when my mom was visiting the USA and she wanted to watch Zee Marathi. This was in 2008. At that time the ONLY way to watch Zee Marathi was through Watchindia.tv
The service is a direct broadcast from India i.e. no timeshifting like some major Indian channels do in the USA. Their DVR layout was clunky to use. There were quite a few outages and some got resolved quickly but some took hours.
The video quality was strictly ok...good on a small computer screen...awfully pixelly on a 40" LCD TV. Granted this was quite a while ago so....
All in all, given a choice between DISH network and Watchindia.tv I would definitely prefer the former.

Thank you, and fair enough comparison. I asked in facebook and 4 of my friends said, they heard about bad reviews for WatchIndia. Only reason I want Watchindia is, because, I can see indian channels in HD. If Quality is not superior to Dish, then there is no point. I guess we have to wait for probably,3 to 4 years before Indian Channels come in HD in USA. People say, we live in "Advanced World", Really?
