From SF Gate:
'Dog' reality show goes after wrong man, real lawsuit followsThe brawny, long-haired, leather-clad ex-con with a soft side -- known to reality television fans as "Dog the Bounty Hunter" -- swept into a Daly City park last year with cameras rolling and city police officers in tow.
Duane Chapman and his Hawaii-based "posse" of family members, who star in A&E's most popular series, were after an elusive bail-skipper who had played for the Daly City Renegades semipro football team.
What happened next is the subject of an unusual civil rights lawsuit filed Wednesday at the U.S. District Court in San Francisco. FULL ARTICLE HERE (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/08/17/DOG.TMP)

I hope "the dog" loses (not looses) big time. :D

Um...what did he do? He has no control over what A&E shows of what is recorded. Doesn't seem to me that this guy has anything actionable against Chapman legally.

After reading the article I am a bit confused as to what is alleged in the suit. If it is solely damage to repuation because of what was aired then A&E and the producers are responsible but I am unsure what role this "Dog" person has. he may well have some say asa aproducer though I must admit that he does not look likea producer to me.
On the other hand if the suit is partially concerned with the apprehension itself "Dog" would most likely be at least partially liable if the allegations are true.
i have never even seen the show. My biewing of A&E is restricted to occasional viewings on "Flip This House" and the two tanya Memme/Roger Hazzard shows.

Let me rephrase my comment.... I hope Dog and the network lose big. Shows like this are the (well almost) the biggest waste of video tape on television. "Reality" shows :barf:

Doesn't seem to me that this guy has anything actionable against Chapman legally. He nabbed the wrong person in front of a bunch of the person's friends. The guy he was looking for was said to be 6' tall, this guy was 6'5". I would think it would be pretty easy to tell the difference, especially for a famous bounty hunter. It appears to me that he just wanted to get "something" on tape.

I'm always amazed when people decide that a matter of subjective taste is "a waste." I don't like coconut. That doesn't make Mounds and Almond Joy a waste to the candy world, because a lot of people DO like those.
The show gets ratings, i.e. it's not a waste to those who DO enjoy it. (I catch it sometimes, and like it). What shows do you watch? Maybe I can brand a few of those "a waste," equally subjectively.

Well, if I recall correctly, I made a similar comment about a little show called American Idol. The problem is that I became hooked after watching it a few more times. There is hope.
