...is there anything you can tell us about:
HMC
Microsoft/D* tuner card for Media Edition PC's
While the HR20 looks promising, what I really want is MRV and a central server that holds all the recording. Any info you share at this time?

HMC... is still a viable product for them.... that is the next major thing after the HR20... but "when" and "how much" is still a while
From what I do know about the HMC.... it is going to make the HR20 look like a door stop.
The Tuner Card... I haven't heard much about since CES....
In a few weeks I start to poke around and see what I can find out.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is HMC?

Home Media Center...
On a very high level:
Central core server where all the logic and basically "work" is done.
Remote display devices that get everything (including the recorded programming, and live programming) at each of the TVs.

The big question is, is there a reason why they included an Ethernet jack on the HR-20? Will this and the USB port on the R-15 be useful for anything cool in the near future?
Might the HR-20 and R-15 be capable of hooking up to the HMC?

One thing that we know for sure is that the HR20 will be using the Ethernet jack for VOD over the Internet. As for other uses, it's anyone's guess at this point.

I don't know if the HR20 or the R15 will be able to work as slave terminals to an HMC..
But DirecTV has made it very clear that they do plan to offer VOD via BroadBand connections as a future feature.

I've been dreaming of a "TiVo Server" since I bought my second TiVo.
Could someone please point me to a thread or website where I could read more about this?

There is VERY little information out there on the product, as it has gone through a lot of different "paths" since it's announcement at CES 2005
Check www.tivocommunity.com and do a search for Home Media Center or HMC
