Ok. I want to prepare for when the HR20 is available in my area. I currently have the Phase III dish, a Terk 5x8 multiswitch, and the following receivers: one HR10-250 , and three Phillips DSR7000 DirecTivos. I know I will need to replace the dish with an AT9 and the multiswitch with a Zinwell WB68. My question is if I just swap these items out, will my current non-MPEG4 receivers continue to work?? Thanks in advance.

Yes.

If you want to integrate OTA to the mpeg2 receivers you will need to cascade the 5x8 to the 6x8 and have the ouputs from the 5x8 go to the mpeg2 receivers and 6x8 outputs go to the mpeg4 receivers
Yes they will work just fine. I have an old HBH receiver and it works just fine. My equipment list is below.
Will it work with a Phase III Triple lnb dish?

The HR20?
Yes it will, but you won't have access to any of the MPEG-4 content (right now just HD-Locals In Locals)

Let me see if I got this straight. You are saying that I can run the 4 cables from the AT9 into the four inputs on the 6x8, then take one of the outputs and run it to the 5x8 (which has the built in diplexer), and then run all the outputs from the 5x8 to my mpeg2 receivers?? and it will work?

No, you will need to take 4 of the outputs from the 6x8 into the 4 SAT inputs on your 5x8...
Then it would work.
I do that right now (minus the OTA Piece) to power my non MPEG-4 equipment.
I read that it requires the AT9 antenna. If you are not interested in MPEG4 today, will the HR20 work with the Phase III antenna?
Sorry for the double post ... I tried positing last night the same question and the system said it was too busy and to try later. Guess I should have read all the threads to see if mine worked. Guess it did ... thanks for the reply Earl.

It doesn't "require" the AT9 dish...
Just that AT9 dish is the only one that will give you the MPEG-4 support...
It will accept any of the previous dish's that DirecTV has had.
No biggie... on the double post... just increases the post count :)

Checking to see if I am on the right course here...I have the 5 dish with the H20 and the HR10 together(1 sat. each for now). the 2 sats. first in a Monster strip then out and are diplexed and then connected to the 2 receivers. Will this work? have not called in and activated the H20 yet. I thought the D*TV installer that their could be no diplexers used but yet he did not remove it.
any help will be appreciated.
Thanks to Earl for the HR20 review - I am trying to be patient until I can finally get one.

A great site for sat dish owners. I am inpressed how info is posted on this site with such clarity. I am a D* sub and I already own the H20. But with the news of the HR20 being released has me all giddy inside! I can't wait for D* to roll out these new wonders in the Bay Area. Any timeframe on when this is happening?BTW, long live sports in HD!

I would like to have three TVs connected to the HR20 it would be in the theater on the projector and also the small TV in the kitchen and the small TV in the workout area all on the same channel. The kitchen and workout TVs I would like to run regular coaxial cable to them but I don't see any connector on the back of the HR20.
What do I do?

Assuming the small ones are not HD, get a modulator and feed it from the AV connectors. Feed the projector with the HDMI or Component+audio signals.

Thank you, I'll check with Fry's tomorrow and see if they know what a AV modulator to a pair of coaxial is or if they have one.
