View Full Version : Installing AT-9 Tomorrow

First time poster...love the board.

"They" are coming in the morning to install my new AT-9 dish. I currently have a 2 LNB model that feeds a 2x8 multiplexer. I have a HR10-250, H15 and an older tivo based DRV (can't remember model). Unfortuately, I will not be around to monitor the install - I am leaving my lovely wife to that task. I am very nervous about this due to a number of posts on this board about botched installs, and quite frankly, my wife will just believe whatever they tell her even if it is wrong. I would like to prep her a bit on what to watch for, but I'm not sure exactly what they will be doing.

So, what is involved in a "typical" AT-9 install? Will they run additional coax? Will it be mounted in the same location as current? Will they provide a new multiplexer? Will they make sure that all my rooms are set up and working before they leave? Are there additional services they will try and sell?

Thanks,

Sponge

You don't mention it, but I'm assuming since you are getting the AT9 dish that you are also getting an H20 receiver? If so, you should be using (and "they" should supply) a Zinwell WB68 multi-switch - the 2x8 you have now will not work with the new dish.

Also, do you have an OTA antenna connected to your HR10-250? If so, does it have an independent cable connecting it, or are you diplexing it with the satellite cables. Diplexing does not work properly with the AT9 dish, so you need to make sure the OTA antenna is connected with a cable dedicated to just that - the OTA antenna.

Just a couple of things to keep in mind.

Thanks for the reply.

I went round and round with the D* rep about the AT-9. They wanted to install the 3 LNB dish. We ended up "ordering" a H20 install so the system would accept my address for the AT-9. So, they may be bringing the H20, not sure.

The OTA is direct to the receiver.

I was mainly curious if "they" would be suppling the mutilswitch and the two extra runs of coax. I hope so. Will report back later.
