I have a complimen of 6 cameras now-

Two large format 2/3" chip broadcast DVCAM/Beta SP TV cameras
1 PD100 DVCAM to get broadcast quality TV in tiny places
1 HVR-Z1U HDV camcorder To get DVCAM of HDTV video
1 Canon 4m pixel digital still and video mostly for stills on a computer display
1 XV6700 cell phone still and video always with me to record the event as needed

Unless one of these breaks and needs replacement, I have the perfect compliment for what I need for all jobs.

Even the article alludes to the real purpose behind these big boys as to need. While many would scoff at the idea of shooting with a cell phone camera, the purpose I may have is just a quick dpcumentary photo with no other purpose than to record an image to use for information recall. If I need igher quality than that, I do have the Canon 4mpixel that shoots adequate stills for all my other work since I am not in the habit of requiring film slides or even super high density images for large prints. So, these two cams satisfy all my current requirements. I had a 35mm film camera with a whole host of lenses and a couple of strobes / slaves but stopped using it years ago. The ofcourse I have the Nikonos for underwater but the same use applies, don't need it. Video- same deal, I have what I need.

So if you are looking to do images for large portrait prints, even billboard photo quality, then consider the big mega pixel cams but always have something very compact and portable to "grab the shot" when you find you need to. In this case the cell phone just may be what works too. It does for me! And, I get paid for my photographic skills.

While I'll be getting a new digital camera soon, nothing remotely in that league. It appears I can no longer find the 3" blank CDs for my 2.1 MP Sony CD Mavica. I wasn't able to take digital pictures on my trip to Philly. I'll probably end up with the 7.2 MP Sony CyberShot for $300.

The way electronics go they will probably be under $1,000.00 next Christmas so I will wait until then. :D (The preceeding message was wishful thinking on my part).
