Here it is 11:43 AM and I just got a call from Install co. stating they could not find someone to install myH20 and dish this morning. Appointment was 8-12 today. I am really glad they called to let me know they "had no one avail" to do install.
Called installation dept of Directv and put me on hold for 30 minutes contacting install co. Came back and said sorry install co phone is busy and I cant get through!!!!
Want to reschedule me for Sept. 2, 2006. Two weeks from now. Woudm't you think since they broke appointment with me I would get pushed up in the install Que sooner than two weeks?
About ready to send everything back and let them have it. I was told i could get out of my commitment that as of now is next year by sending back my owned equipment. I bought and paid for but I have to GIVE it to them if I cant to get out of commitment.
They more I deal with this company the more I want to leave!!!
It sounds like you've got a poor local installer. I've used D* licensed installers twice and got very quick install dates and service. One even came within the first 5 minutes of the time window I was given.
Bruister is a very good company and have very efficent installers if you are in the BHAM area it might be very few techs actually trained for the install of that dish trust me its not a piece of cake
No surprise for me. The first installer missed his appt for me also. Then their scheduler called at 9:00PM and asked if I wanted him to come out then. Now how is anybody going to put up a dish in total darkness?

After repeated phone calls I was just told someone would be here today. I will update if they make it and when they are done,
Talk about in the dark. I installed one of the first NavySat. systems on the USS Trippe FF-1075 in the early 70's. Way up on the mast underway-Should have been calm seas but as my luck would have it it got ugly while I was up there.
All I can say is thank goodness for safety harnesses!!!!

Were you 40 ft off the ground? Would you want somebody else putting holes in your roof at that height in the dark? I'm in the wilds of New Hampshire, no streetlights, no neighbors, and unfortunately, no cable or FIOs.

Probably more like 60 ft. I was agreeing that it would be miserable at night in the dark and I would not want mine done then.
I would like mine done though!!!

Welcome to DTv's nominal under-manned turned over rate stricken FACT.
BTW.. you ARE In bruister territory so as the above poster said.. well never mind. (lol)
Oh and here's "the forum doubters" alittle info. AS OF last week all of the Bruister call center IS OUTSOURCED TO INDIA for the techs.. LOL.. YEP!!!
lol.
New poicy IS if you do NOT make the allotted time per install(tech have quota time restrictions that arent even do-able half the time logically) then the tech is reduced to 6.40 for Not making time quota's (i think thats the proper #/ pay) Per hr... YEP (SIX)
So those who think im just some disgruntled "loud mouth" here.. theres ya some *TRUE* facts of comfort and Quality. LAst piece of paper i had in MY hands said BA was anywhere from 9-14 days out due to their mess. So the Sept 2nd is about right when going w/the facts anyway (wink)

Well I guess I can't complain too much. Installer showed up at 2 PM-said he was told to come here instead of hios scheduled appointment. I guess I should feel guilty for bumping somene else.
Got 5LNB dish installed and hooked up H20 and 2 R15s. Had a couple of small glitches and as he was activating HD the bottom droped out and had no signal for almost 15 minutes. Longest we have been without signal since I can remember. Hope this is not an omen!!
He finally finished about 5:20 and it appears everything works, My only concern is signals of 45-50 on one sat. Don't know if this was the rain for poor alignment. All others around 78-92.
I also was given 4 months HD free because appointment was not kept. I should have asked for more. Oh well I am not really greedy.
Look to play with all units in the next day or so. I hear I need to watch the heat in the h20.
Thanks for all the support. Have been lurking for about 2 months and jsut posted my first few posts

GOOD FOR YOU!!!.
(and honestly supprised to be honest)
My installer was over 2 hours late, so I missed a day of work. I called customer retention the next day and got a $100 credit to my account.

I had the same problem, but they didn't offer me anything, nor would I want it, I don't care to save a few bucks, my time is worth way more than a few bucks..
They finally came out this sunday and fixed the problem, but why DTV doesn't fix thier install problems is beyond me.
I'll say it one more time, if DTV every looses the NFLST, then short their stock, they are not the same DTV from years ago..

Not Quite sure what you are referring to regarding the Bruister Call Center being outsourced. The last time I called it Last Friday I was calling Mississippi.
Regarding the allotted time per install, the requirement is completely obtainable. I have several techs that are under my supervision that get a bonus for their production every week. One is even a service tech. Perhaps the techs in your area are not as efficient as the ones we have here. And by the way, we install two dishes on almost all installs and still can make the production requirement.
Our time out on installs is usually 3-4 days. Not 9-14 days.
Well paper tells me from area DTV sources that the last one stated 9-14 days as a whole. Bruister has turned into a sub a thon due to the lack of hrly white van employees here to be frank.
call center ect:
I stood in the front yard of a Bruister cx (whole allotment btw) and listened to 2 technicians bleed to me for help. I also listened to the phone as even i couldnt believe it standing on the cx's front steps. I then went as far as to pull reach from the NOW UNION GASDEN ALA BA office and they too are calling INDIA. I heard this weird scratch type beep and the call ended up in INDIA. I then listened as the tech tried to code and close the job. Unreal!
Are you aware that here CWA UNION office the techs are making 3 times the un-met quota rate and POV's get paid mileage also in this process between jobs?.
So in essence we have within 50 miles of each other one so-called tech making 6 something per hr and then we have a tenured tech makeing 3 times that under UNION PROTECTION now in this state.
The contract WAS signed the 12th or 17th i believe as a fact.
So if ya want some inormation or are wondering about call centers and the state of the HSP's ect AND NOT company propaganda as ssuch .. I guess youve found someone that Knows a little truth and has been involved in it for quite sometime. BTW do you feel as those technicians are treated fairly? Ha...
The unions dont think so. and the federal govt dont think so either.
NICE TO SEE YA HERE BTW.
EDIT:
PS. allotment/ quota: = the boy worked 84 hrs and got paid for 56 when considering his HIRE ON rate then after subtraction for failure to meet quotas.,, His check was butchered to result in the equivilent of 56 hrs when he actually worked for alot less than his sign on rate. HMMM..
Btw not to take anything away from him but his prior employment was a restraunt manager and the guy standing next to him was a 3 week trainee.
Btw this above reference to story was as a fact on Thurday of last week.
To me Bruister's Greed and abuse has Now went full "corporate American circle" now.. = a outsourced call center to boot!
Why ya think the FIRST UNION shop in this movement was centered on BRUISTER and THEN MASTEC?... its Not a coincidence by far.. TRUST me. lol.. (wink) . There's a large number of US with a emphatic since of just to expose these people in every facit possible. The mess bruister does is simply unjust to american families as a work force.. sorry.. And in Gasden is this start of stopping nothing more than what i resemble as 3rd world tyranny and company abuse. You Now are seeing the effect adminstered in irony by their own hands.= They did it to themselves.!

Hope you don't think that I am speaking out of turn here but we are not union here so I cannot comment on union vs non-union wages. None of my techs have said anything about talking to someone in India. Do you not use the Meredian call center?
I am sure that there are good qualified techs in your area also. I meant no disrespect to those techs. I know that we have worked very hard in our area to get our schedule install dates as short as possible.
We have competely done away with subs here in this office. We have been able to maintain a tech force consisting of both COV and POV that can complete our work assignments. We are like any other office in that we have some techs that don't feel that they are paid what they are worth but by and large most of the folks here are quite happy. I am proud of the fact that our office runs as smooth as it does.
I know that Bruister as a company has gone through many changes here lately. I believe that these changes will help make this a stronger company. I was here when this area had only 20 techs working and we were all POV's. The changes I have seen here have benefited our tech force.
Just my opinion.

First:
I dont work for those folks(never have and NEVER will). And no your not out of line or turn.
So your telling me that when you first started there and all POV's were paid
60/20/20/20 with all materials and benifits they are better off NOW? What ? please explain. So 12$ a hr (BEFORE QUOTA REDUCTION down to 6$) and that pretty white van is better than 60/20>?.
Its thats same mind set that made Bruister in the large DMA's the laughing stock of real technicians ya know? (no offense but truth). What's your adverage tenure of company EMPLOYEE "installers" per DMA as a adverage?
For that matter an in the United states. Why is it that i read eveidence of desigration of the tech force and the "new aged D* " right here in this forum?
Brother Bruister is viewed in the south as worse than Mastec (and thats saying something) by technicians. Im sure you visit the cable bar and MSN sat groups. Go read those voices and see the sorrow caused by Bruister and the likes. Some dont lay down though and *some Just want to HELP just for the state of the industry and what IS justice By federal labor law.
I watched DTv from its Birth and what has happened to this trade as far as the technicians /pay goes and for what the customer endures is simply appalling to me. Find me another trade in this country that has witnesed such. Working on a 50% pay decrease now since inception for the same work and MORE requirement per job and THEN FINES and Chargebacks to boot. Its a racket and is for a smart real technicians unless in his *own biz just a stupid step to take. i watched Bruister Nashville office after their Illegal firings and hiring of union buster firms .. Completely walk away and go to Dishnet work for instance. Every office of Bruister has fired peole and created what they though would be a new moldable work force with Nothing But greed in mind.
At least Bruister doesnt make the tech's "rent the van" too like Mastec but mastec does pay more LOL But the checks are less after the * "renting" of employer owned vehicles to Employee's for the soul purpose to bring forth profits to the employer". hmmmmm (wink).
D* is still paying $100 on the first IRD right? LOL..

What cracks me up about B&A's India number is their (obviously false) names. They use names like Jason, Joe, and Diane. I'm sitting there thinking, you expect me to believe your name is Samantha when you can't even pronounce it?
By the way, I've been having to use the number since Saturday.
