View Full Version : Cost Question
How does DTV expect to compete when I can get a "free" HD DVR from Comcast, and DTV is charging $299-$399??
I am an ex-dtv customer, and I am considering coming back, based on the new HR20, but I can't see coughing up that much.
Is there precedent for them giving their equipment for free to a customer to win them back? Then I might more realistically consider returning (I am going to miss the NFL package).

how long were you a DTV customer? Were you a "good" one (pay on time, spend some $$, etc? If so, and if they still have your history, it might be worth a try.
It sounds like you haven't been away long (this is not a plus). I would guess that if you popped for the NFLST + Superfan, they might cut you a deal. You'll have to pony up somewhere around $400 either way, but if you do the NFLST, you'll get football.
Another issue is whether or not they have the HR20 in your area by the time that the season starts. I believe the deadline for the season package is October 2nd. After that, I think you have to go on a week-by-week basis.

I was a customer for about 10 years, did spend plenty of $$ (Sunday ticket, superfan, movie channels, several boxes, etc). I had "best customer" status. I will give 'em a call and see what I can get.
