Yes, it looked bare without any markers. Feel free to add yourself for real, Earl, and I'll remove that.

Yeah, I agree that you shouldn't have added yourself as it appears that someone other than LA got one as normal rollout. Of course, we know it is an exception, but others may not.

Well, now someone in Texas has it.
Well, now someone in Texas has it.
I think they meant to pick Pasadena California. I could be wrong, but the city in texas that is pinned is also Pasadena. I originally put Korea Town and it put my marker somewhere in southern china.

That could be. When I tried to put Earl's placemarker it found some place in Kansas. I had to go to the advanced location search to get it right.
Edit: Wait, it's Pearland, TX. I think it's right.

Earl,
You are in IL? How'd ya get the HR20 so soon (sorry I'm new here).
I am in IL too (Downers Grove) and is there any way to get one? Does D* needs testers in the chicagoland area?
I presume they finished building that development and you're not living on the dirt patch pictured ;-)

He got it two weeks before it came out, specifically so he could write the review. Has to do with some relationships (strictly online, I believe) he's developed over the years.

Walter described why I got it.
I need to update my logitude and latitude in Frapper.
I am actually that last house in the SAT photo.... and that photo is at least a year old, as the orange container accross the street has been gone for a while...
And they just built a house next to me.... but up till 3 months ago... yep... I lived next to a dirt and weed hill :D

If you look at the map zoomed in, Pearland is a suburb of Pasadena, TX.

how does a person go about becoming a beta tester for directv?
i wrote them an email asking and they thought i was asking for a job AT directv and gave me a link to their website where i could send in my resume. they email customer support is awful sometimes! well...considering i think alot of it goes to india i guess i can see why they dont fully understand people's emails.

DirecTV doesn't have an external Beta Test program at this time.
All of their Beta testers are internal employees of DirecTV or their associated partners.

So I notice that there is now Virginia, Washington, Northern California and Texas on here. Is it safe to say there is now at least a little bit of national distribution for the HR20?

All the Best Buy stores in Cincinnati have them in stock right now. They are listed for $399.00. I called VE today to check on my order and was told that they have them in stock now, but D** will not allow them to ship until September 13th.

True, with one very important exception... and a very good one indeed.

I'd love to know where Timothy McDonald got his. It looks like were are from the same city. I call BS! Is there any sort of validation when you add yourself to this frapper map, or can anyone just say they have one and put up their location?

I don't have an HR20 ... yet. But I do live in Pearland! Nice. Pasadena is the biggest suburb of Houston, some 145k. Pearland is around 60k but is expected to be over 150k in 15 years which would have its population increasing 10 fold in 30 years.
I'll be further representing Pearland in November when I pull the trigger on HDTV. I hope the HR20 is rock solid by then.

Added myself to the map today (though I've had the HR20 for two days now). The map isn't accurate though - even with my city, state and ZIP, the marker is like two or three counties away (probably 75 miles or more from where it should be).
