Are you able to get CBS-HD distant from dish if you are in an O&O market, but currently receiving Mpeg4 HD locals?? (San Francisco Market)

If yes, can you elect to receive the NY feed of the local??

If yes, are NFL games blacked out on this Distant feed??

Not sure if you would get either channel or not, but the Jets games on the NY CBS-HD were blacked out even though the sd channel was not.

The short answer is yes.... and no. Viacom has an agreement with E* for their digital signal in O&O markets (including San Francisco).

Under the SHEVRA act regarding digital signals, you are only authorized to receive a station in your time zone or later, not earlier. This has not really been followed. The jets games have been blacked out outside of the viewing market on the digital feed.

Are you getting both the twin cities and new york off of dish? If so how did you talk a csr into doing it. I tried and was told as long as I get hd from all 4 major networks in the twin cities I can;t get the new york due to some legal stuff.

This link explains it all . . .

Are you in range of another CBS Station? If so you can't get the CBS Distant Feed. Read the example the link gives concerning Baltimore and Washington DC.

I've had a second dish for 61.5 since the Voom channels came online. At that time there was still one Minneapolis local (KAWE) on 61.5 so I got the dish for free. So basically I had CBS-HD long before Dish offered the Minneapolis locals in HD. Even though I get the local CBS channel (WCCO) in HD now, I believe that I still qualify for the New York feed of CBS-HD because WCCO is an O&O station.

I'm in Detroit - I have the local HD channels (118.5) and CBSHD-E off of the 61.5 satellite. When I did my upgrade, I just told them I wanted to keep it. I had no problem. YMMV

I am in the SF Bay Area. I get KCBS-HD from LA besides KPIX in SF. The KCBS is not MPEG-4 and it has better picture quality. I have had it since before KPIX-HD was offered.
