I currently have an 811 with AT60 Plus and the old HD package (not a metal pack). I just called Dish to upgrade to the Silver package and a ViP 211. I asked about the promotions/rebates discussed on this board and the sales rep said I didn't qualify for anything. He said I get no credit for trading in the 811 since it is leased, and I actually have to pay a $49 upgrade fee. He also said that the $10 for 10 months HD credit only applies if I wasn't an existing HD customer. If I read this board correctly, the HD credit should apply as long as I didn't already have a METAL HD pack, which I didn't, just the old standard package. Is this information correct, or am I getting screwed? I know that sometimes the sales reps aren't always fully informed. Are there any other rebates/special offers going on for this situation that I'm not aware of?
he's wrong.
You can still get the $10 for 10 months.
the form is available online

Your actually saving $49 by doing the uprade and turning in your 811. If you didn't turn in your 811 or were going to HD for the first time that fee is $98. Also, you are entiteld to the $10 for 10 months credit since you are going to a Metal pack for the first time. I have been told that credit is good until at least 1/31/2007. When all is said and done you should be able to get a 211, turn in your 811 and after 10 months be $51 ahead.

The CSR gave me the same freaking run-around when I upgraded to a 622, and I thought I was going to have to beat him. It would have been difficult to accomplish this over the phone, mind you, but I still felt the urge.
You should be able to download the form for the "$10 back for 10 months" from the Dish website and print it out. After reading over it, it plainly applies even if you already had the old Dish HD package. If you are upgrading now to the metal packages, you should be able to receive the promotion once you receive your first bill which shows the metal HD package.

Still waiting!!! Upgraded June 14th to receive the National Geographic Channel in HD (9429--129/22), which is another story :( ...Last week I receive in the mail my completed promotion form, copy of my 1st bill with the upgrade highlighted along with a letter indicating that my account is "inactive". Gee, what is that bill for $112 from DISH with the qualifying package circled--did I print it up on my computer!!!!
Makes one wonder what kind of an operation they're running.
