I see from other threads that many people indicate that they have an installation date scheduled. Is there any reason to have it professionally installed if I already have the H20 and and 5 lnb dish installed? Can i simply swap the receivers and activate the new one?

If you already have the AT9, you do not need an installer. Keep in mind you do need 2 coax lines from the sat. to fully utilize the HR20, so you may need another line run.

What is the 2nd coax for?

How can you tell if you have the proper 2 lines run or not? I have the AT9 dish which was just installed this past May with a regular H20 in the bedroom and the HD TiVo in the family room. I know both tuners in the TiVo are connected to coax lines. Does that qualify as 2 lines? Sorry for the ignorant question and I appreciate any information. Thanks

if both tuners on your tivo are working then you have 2 lines already ran there so all you would have to do is unplug them and plug them into your new dvr..

Each tuner needs its own input from the dish so that the HR20 can record/watch 2 shows at the same time. You can use it with only one coax line, but dual tuners is a must have feature on a DVR.

My install was "free" so why not. Plus he added a muliswitch and ran cables to a new location because I was relocating the ol' duel tuner TiVo.

So no, you don't need pro install - it's easy. But if it's free..... hey take advantage of the knowledge from the guys who install these all day long (even though this only his 3rd HR20 install)

The company really likes to have installers come out, even if it is to plug in the wires while you watch.
They wanted to send an installer to replace a defective D11 of mine, for goodness sake!
A CSR told me that they have been finding a lot of customer-induced problems (such as people improperly splicing the sat feed, etc.) and this is easier for them overall.
