View Full Version : HR20 Available In Columbus OH
I got mine coming September 9 for install with 5 LNB dish. I'll keep you posted, but suspect they'll either not have it or show up with an HR10-250.

Hilbe - what number did you call? I called Friday (rumored success with retention led me there) to no avail.
I'm in the Columbus area too.
I threw the # out when I got a deal. My first step was to email them online. I stated both WOW and Insight had offered me no hardware cost for HD DVRs. They emailed me back 2 or 3 days later indicating they would be calling me. I got a call the next day at home and they left a voicemail with a phone #. It was a retention # of some sort. I called 2 times before I got a decent deal for not having Sunday Ticket, $200 instant credit on my account and $120 ($10/month for 12 months) off my bill. Here is my order:
Description Unit Price Quantity Price
Swap ReplaceImplied DVR IRD
$0.00 1 $0.00
Handling
$19.95 1 $19.95
Standard Professional Install
$0.00 1 $0.00
DIRECTV 5-LNB Multi-Satellite Dish
$0.00 1 $0.00
DIRECTV HD DVR (Expanded HD Prog. Capable)
$0.00 1 $0.00
Subtotal: $418.95
Tax: $28.28
Total: $447.23
Installation Appointment: Sep 9, 2006 - Afternoon (1 PM to 5 PM)
Please note that an adult must be present for the installation.

Hilbe,
Just had the HR20 installed today in Westerville, OH. I was supposed to have the HR10-250 but the installer said they were out and these had just arrived today. He said this is the first one he has installed in Central, OH. I had called retention last week saying Time Warner had offered great bundle package for its services and wanted to know what Directv could offer. I only paid 19.95 for the upgrade HD DVR receiver. I am 5 year customer and NFL ticket subscriber.

You pulled the TWC card, eh? I was thinking about doing that but didn't because I was afraid the conversation would turn bad quickly...
FYI, I allegedly have an HR20 install scheduled for next Wednesday. I'm a new customer, fwiw. I went right through DirecTV, not Best Buy.

What kind of deal did you get?
Mine comes Saturday afternoon, we shall see if it passes the wife test....
The installer came today. Installed the 5 LNB dish, new switch in the basement, and HR20. He said this was his first install. He had another one in the bed of his pickup truck, so obviously there are others getting it as well. Good luck to everyone, so far so good. I do miss the Tivo suggestions :(
Mine was installed today too -- the appointment got moved up from Wednesday. So long Time Warner! I shall have the OSU-Texas game in HD after all.

Well called Directv again about the HR20, Things went pretty good tonight, I talked to the one of the best CSRs that I ever spoke to at DTV. I talked to her for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Most of the time was just chit chat, we talked about Dish network, Voom and installers, directv equipment.
She told me that the HR20 was still not available and that she thinks that the national release date has been pushed back again because of numerous issues with the box. She said her notes did say the release was for next week but now it has been changed to fall. She said she was sorry for all the times Ive called and could not get a good answer on a upgrade. She said we really value you as a customer and she kept on saying how nice and sweet I was. She said Im going to note your acct to make sure you get the best deal, I can not say you will get them free but Ill see that you get the best deal. She kept on about how nice I was and she said Im going to give you some free stuff, She gave me HBO,STARZ,SHOWTIME,CINEMAX,SPORTSPACK free for 2 months. She then said Im going to give you atleast 1 free HR20 and Ill atleast guarantee you the other one for $99. But if a better deal is available youll get it.
She went on to say I try my hardest to help nice customers, When customers call in trying to get everything given to them for freem she said they say GIVEME GIVEME, she does not help them. She said Im going to give you my employee ID # she said the other CSR that you spoke to Ill give you there ID number.
We then talked about the Tivo, R15, and Voom, she said alot of there HD is old upgraded stuff. She talked about how busy Tuesday was, and how she came into work and she looked at the board and they had hundreds of calls that day She said hold times were long.
She said stop me anytime, I could chat all night. I told her she was the best CSR Ive ever talked to. She said thanks, she tries her best to help people
She talked about installers in Hawaii, she said theres one office there that covers all the islands, she said theres areas in the US that have one install office that covers 300 mile areas. Denver, NJ and others. It went on and on. She talked about the new sat launches this year and next.
I forgot her name but she said keep this retention number its the best # to call, She said we help you here more than the regular number.
Well let me shut up, just proofs if you call enough youll find someone that will help you.
She did say that the system does note each time you call, and they know how often you call. and when you send emails to them they go into your notes under your acct.
