Same with the 625 and the 322. If you dont have a working phone line hooked up then dish will charge $5 per reciver per month.

I get charged the $5 a month and my 622 is hooked up to a phone line. The phone
line works and we order pay per view over it. I just checked it and it is still working.

About a month ago, I came home and my daughter was watching the 622. So I went
to another room and tried to watch a game on MLB EI. Did not have any service on
my standard definition dish receiver. Checked all three standard definition receivers.
No service. Called Dish customer service and they said a code was put on my account. I was transferred to someone and he said my account was deactivated.
He then said to me don't you have an answering machine. We have been trying
to call you. I have Verizon voicemail and I checked my phone. No messages. He
said that since they could not get in touch with me that they shut down my
service. He then had me go around the house and read numbers from the screens
on all four of my tv's. I had to make my daughter pause the 622 (and she threw a fit). Anyway, Dish finally turned my tv's back on. But I missed one hour and one half
of the game. Came home to watch a game at 7:00PM and did not start watching
until 8:30PM. I have never been delinquent on a bill, been a subscriber for
over 4 years and have Platinum with locals, four receivers, MLB EI, NBA League pass,
NHL center ice, ESPN full court and order pay per view.

You need to make sure that the phone line that the Reciver is hooked up to is the same number that Dish has on your account. Sounds Like Dish Had the Wrong Number. If there is a working Phone line to each reciver then you should not be charged the $5 fee. I had this problem when I first had Dish installed. The installer didnt hook the phone lines up. I had to do it. When the first bill arrived I saw the $5 fee and called Dish up to tell them My phone is now working. After about 2 calls later and 4 CSRs I finaly got dish to credit my account for the fees.
I was told if your reciver dosnt call out because you had a phone line problem and they start the $5 fee it is up to you to call and have a CSR take the fee off you bill after they Verify the phone line. Just pluging in a working phone line to the reciver will not get the fee taken off your bill. You need to call and tell them to take it off.

YOur phone needs to be out for a few weeks before they add the fee. When I lost my phone my reciver kept trying for at least two weeks until it just stoped trying to call out. if the reciver trys to call out and your phone is not hooked up you will get an on screen mesage telling you to hook up a phone line or a fee will ocurr. BUt the phone needs to be out a while be for they give up and charge you.

thanks for the info, i got my dish hooked up on friday, then called to cancel my
cable, then went to fla. for a week, when i got back my cable internet was off,
i call t/w they fixed the problem, but when i turned on the tv for the first time when i got back i got that message,i ask dish before i had it installed if me having voip
was a problem, they said no, it would work ok, i hope they know if my internet goes out for a while or we have a storm and lose electric my phone will not work.
that's why i have my voip phone calls redirected to my cell phone.anyway when i test the line it says it's picking up the phone line ok, yet when i try to have it call
to view bill or what ever it says unable to connect to dishnetwork at this time please try agin later. any way that for you information.

I have read here in other post that you might have to dial *99 brfore the call. Depends on who is your VOIP provider. There is a place in the menu to put a dial prefix in the menu somewere but I cant remember off the top of my head.

Look on dishnetwork.com bottom left residential site agreement <click> got the the middle of that agreement & list of "possible charges" they can do..

I've always wondered if they really did that..

but, you are always welcomed back @ d8 with open arms, your old acct can be reopened & reactivated if you still have equipmt if not then discuss that w/then on arrangements. If you have commitment with dish at least still check ur options.
