X Games VIII will be featured extensively on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC, Aug. 17-22 from Philadelphia for the second consecutive year.
For the first time, ABC will present a prime-time X Games telecast, Aug 18 from 7-9 p.m. EST, as part of 20 hours of original coverage on three networks. The free-to-the-public event, which will primarily take place in and around the First Union Center Aug. 15-19, will gather athletes from around the world in the following sports categories: Moto X, Bike Stunt, Skateboard, Downhill BMX, Aggressive In-line Skate, Wakeboard and Speed Climbing.
ABC Sports will kick-off the event coverage with five X Games programs, including four afternoon shows (Saturday, Aug. 17 from 4-5 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. EST and Sunday, Aug. 18 from 1-2 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.) and the prime-time telecast. In addition, ESPN will showcase 12 original hours (including daily, 60-minute highlight shows at midnight EST) and ESPN2 will feature two hours.
