I have a non-HD D* Tivo box that I've had for 3+ years and am wanting to upgrade to HD.

Just got off the phone with CR and they said, as expected, "LA only, we'll email you when it's available, it will be $399." I asked about getting the HR10 for now and then getting the free swap and was told that at this point it wouldn't be worth it because the HR20 will be out before the HR10 would even be installed. With all the HR20 delays I'm concerned that I'll have missed half of my Seahawks games in HD by the time I get the HR20.

Anybody have a different response for Seattle area or tips from other non-LA markets?

If you look at the Frapper Map sticky at the top of this page it shows one person in Seattle who says that they have received the HR-20. Not sure how they got it, but you may want to take a look at it.

I ordered my HR20 from BeachAudio.com last Saturday and just received an e-mail indicating they will ship the DVR on the 9/13. Since I need a new 5-LNB dish and a new multiswitch, the soonest D* could get an install date for me was 9/24. I am hopeful that I will be watching the Hawks in HD by NFL Week #4.

I plan to give Ironwood Communications a call to see if I can get an earlier installation date but I want to make sure I know what the delivery date of my HR20 will be first.

Good luck and let me know if you found a faster method. Since OTA is not an option for me, I just hope KCPQ (Fox in Seattle) is launched in HD by then as well.

Looks like a good price for the box. Did you buy the dish/switch from them as well, or is D* throwing that in?

Would be interested to know how much they charge.

No sure if I can do OTA, but at this point decided I didn't want to bother with it if locals are available through satellite. Would be interested if you find any update on KCPQ.

I'll post if I find something better. Thanks much and go Hawks!

DirecTV is going to provide me the 5-LNB dish, multiswitch and installation at no cost. I also received about $250 in service credits which almost pays for the HR20 from BeachAudio.com. It only took 6 different calls to Customer Retention over about a 4 hour period to accomplish this.

Unfortunately, your mileage may vary. :(

I live in Seattle and just spoke with D* retention yesterday and the rep I spoke with said he has been seeing new orders for HD DVR fulfilled with the HR20. He said that if the rep places an order, once the work order has been created, they can verify if you're getting an HR20.

Now I caution you, for those of us eligible for the free upgrade, he told me that he can only use the upgrade once on an account and if he used it and for some reason it wasn't the HR20, I wouldn't be able to use it again. Not sure how true this is, but it sounded risky enough for me to wait.

Lastly, he said that he heard that they should be rolled out on or around the 15th.

Hope this helps.

I heard retention told that to someone else in another thread too, BUT, I received a free HR10-250 in the past HD blow out special and my account is now noted that I will receive a free HR20-700 when available in my area. So again, this is just another story of csr roulette.

EDIT: Infact, was also told if I just could not wait for D* I could buy from BB and they will credit my account. It's getting tempting as time goes by. I'd rather not have to deal with that and hopefully by Monday or Tuesday next week I'll be able to get from D* with the national release.
