I get the call from the installer the night before to verify the installation of my HR20 I make sure to ask him that he is bringing the HR20 and he said yes. I said great just wanted to make sure you had them and he responded yes we just got a truck full of them in.

Now jump ahead 24 hours to when he arrives to do the install and I notice that the box that he is carrying does not look like the HR20's box.

Thanks Earl for the photos of the box in your review. :)

I say to him that is an HR20? And he said oh yes it is the only one I have on my truck. I then say to him that is an HD DVR correct? I know from the now puzzled look on his face that he is completley confussed.

After a short pause he answered you are supposed to be getting a dvr? I said yes the HR20 HD dvr and he starts fliping through his clipboard and right there on his work order for my job it states: DIRECTV HD DVR (Expanded HD Prog. Capable) and someone has written out besides that model HR20.

He then precedes to look at the box of the reciever that he brought with him and sure enough on the side of that box it say Model H20 which seemed to confuse him even more.

He goes out to his truck and begins to look through all the boxes of recievers that he has in there and yup you guessed it no HR20. He then pulls out is cell phone and calls his office and gives them the whole story and they tell him to call the Warehouse to make sure they have the HR20's. by this time I am starting to get abit steamed he gets on the phone with the warehouse and they tell him yes we have a bunch of the HR20 HD Dvr's he then says they would like to speak with you. The woman on the other end begins to explain that the installer will be unable to complete my job today for he does not have the correct receiver and that since the warehouse is 4 hours from my location he will be unable to get me one today and that she would like to reschedule my install for tommorow I said well I am not happy at all about this and she preceded to say it was the best that she could do. I said alright then if that is the best you can do I guess I will have to live with it she then asked to speak back with the installer.

After he hangs up he keeps appoligizing for the mix up and said that he quessed when he was stocking his truck at 3:30 this morning he grabed an H20 instead of an HR20 and that he would be out first thing tommorrow to do my install. He then said that he wish that would have not made the model numbers so simmular and as I walked him to the door he told me again that he would see me first thing tommorow.

Sorry for the long story but I just had to share. :) And i just hope this does not happen to anyone else and I guess I will see if I get my HR20 tommorow.

Basically same story as yours but a month ago I was getting the h20 5lnb dish but he brought at the 3lnb dish. I said that is not right, he called and they had the ordered wrong dish but my luck was better he had the 5lnb on the truck.
I am suppossed to get hr20 hopefully this month.

I went through retention and was offered two deals: the first offer was $19.95 S&H, but I was affraid they would show up with the wrong DVR (H10) so I asked about what they would offer if I purchased it at Best Buy: Offer two was $250 instant rebate applied to account, $10 off my bill for one year, $10 off HBO for 6 mos. and $5 off my HD bill for 6 mos ($460 in deals vs. $430 in cost to purchase).

I decided to go to Best Buy just to be sure I get the HR20 instead off waiting all day on the 13th and having the guy show up with the wrong one. Picked it up at the Downers Grove store and installed it myself (already have the 5lnb).

When I called to activate it, retention just scheduled installation to run a second line to the HR20 and cancelled my order for the 13th.

Surprisingly it went very smooth.

I have 3 Tivo receivers in my house and really like the ease of using them, it will take me sometime to get used to Directv version.

Just thought I would give you and update on my situation.

Installer finally showed up with the HR20 and got it installed on Friday afternoon I really like this reciever so far it seems to be alot better than the R15.

I bought the HR20 from best buy today - already have the 5lnb dish running one line into the house (i scheduled for 2nd line for next week). however, during guided setup, a software download began and showed 0% for about 15 mins. It didn't complete and gave me an error message. i called directv and for 2 hrs we couldn't figure out how to get past this screen. can you let me know if you had this trouble during your install and how you resolved (or if anyone can let me know how i can go about troubleshooting this?) thank you.

Switch the cable in from SAT 1 to SAT 2. I saw this from another post from Earl. He said that the sat will sometimes have an error on the 1 sat but the other one will work to do the down load.

BTW, The Perculator was probably the best Mix song ever! (if that's what your name refers too).

Sorry it didn't work for you. Maybe it will be a quick download after your other cable is run.

Oh the college days....radio B96 here in chicago and the clubs...mixes just aren't the same any more.
