I just order the HD DVR, got it for free by the way the the order is for the new HR20. Install date is 9-25.

No I just called customer service at (800) DIRECTV and this is what I got. She was a very good CSR in Georgia. I just asked for the HD DVR and what deals do they have at this time - that was it.

Yeah I just called and she said that it's not available outside LA yet and that I couldn't order it yet. She said your order is probably for an HR10.

I see the Best Buy website has it available at the Mayfair store -- for a mere $399. I also called today, and she told me they know nothing yet and probably have to wait a few more weeks. I just keep calling everyday.
if BestBuy had it for $299 like everybody else I'd get one from there

It is the HR20 because the bill says the order is for "(Expanded HD Prog. Capable)". This is the trigger for the HR20.

Called D* to check if the HR20 was available yet. CSR said I can only get one from BB. I told him I know of people ordering through CS. He said not in Wisconsi until after 9/11. I guess I will wait until next week now.
After 9/11...
That is right! I have the install date for 9/25. I double checked with D* and it is for the HR20.

Just got off the phone with D* and I have a install date of 9/20 set for the HR20. They gave it to me for $19.95 as long as I send back my H20 when I receive the returnable box.
Great, wow how did you get an earlier install date than me? You must live in a less populated area.

That's what I was thinking. I got 10/07 first and now 9/30. Could have had 9/26.

I live just south of Fond du Lac, so I figure my installer is coming from Sheboygan or the Fox Valley. When I was on the phone, he offered me 9/18 but I wouldn't be home, so I took the next best available of 9/20 between 8-12. I confirmed on My DirecTv and with Retention that indeed I will be receiving a HR20. Can't wait until next week.

I finally got my HR20 installed today. Had a 8-12 install, but tech didn't arrive until 5:20 p.m. He came from Premier Communications in Green Bay, and said he does at least 2 HR20 installs a day - 7 days a week. Overall very happy with the tech and install -- only had to swap out H20 - pretty easy and I had the 2nd line ran to the location already. Hopefully this unit works as advertised. I will be setting up some Series recordings tonight.

when you say "swap out", do you mean you gave the installer the H20? or you just removed the H20 from that location. I hadn't heard of anyone actually giving any equipment back to an installer.

When I ordered the HR20, the CSR said they would be sending out a returnable box for the H20. I guess I wait and see if I receivce it. I heard the installer tell the D* CSR to remove the H20 from the account, but I hooked it up to a SD tv in my office just for kicks and it works fine with all the programming still active.
Well the install took 1 and 1/2 hours. Had to put dish higher on the roof due to a tree. The HR-20 is a fairly nice unit. Now I just wish the CBS 58 would get off their HIGH HORSE (( :flaiming )) and sign the contract so we can get CBS in HD here!!!!!
All in all I like the unit and loved MNF in HD!

I'll just watch 58 OTA. Oh wait OTA isn't activated on these boxes! :icon_lame
As soon as they active it I will get an antena to watch 58, 24, and 18. Stupid D*.
