Can I safely hook a Dish 4900 legacy receiver to a Dish Pro Plus LNB without any additional switches or adapters?

Should work with no problems I have a 7100 hooked up that way.

Some will and some will not, but the common rule around the office where I work is that if it is only 1 legacy receiver it might work at first but will eventually cause the LNBF to fail, but 2 or more Legacy receivers will work without any problems.

I have done many 500 upgrades and one particular model comes to mind is the 2700. I would connect 1 to a DPP LNBF and it would pass check switch fine, but go to the next job and the same model receiver would not pass check switch.

If it is just one legacy receiver I would recommend 2 legacy duals with 2 - 21 switches OR a DP - Twin and a DP Adapter.

Just my personal opinion.
