I plan to purchase an HR20 at Best Buy, but they don't have the new dish for sale. (And there is no HD programming at 101, right?) There would be no point in buying one until I get the new dish.

I called DirecTV and was told that they can only provide the dish with an install - and that they would install a unit I purchased at Best Buy.

It would be ridiculous to spend $200 on a dish and mutiswitch that DirecTV would just give me...

I really would like to install it myself, though.

Has anyone received the AT9 dish from DirecTV without an install?

You're better off letting DirecTV provide a free professional installation, especially if you've never installed a Ka/Ku AT9 dish before. If you really want to do-it-yourself, just let them install it for free, then you can take it down and re-install it yourself :)

OT but related question. I have an HR20 waiting for me at Best Buy that I'll be picking up at lunch. I intend to call retention and see what credits are available to me for this, but I'm sure I'll have the box in hand for a week before they can come out and put up the new AT9 and new multi switch. Is there any point to me setting the hr20 up as soon as I get it or should I wait until the new dish is installed? I only have a 2 LNB dish right now, but I do have two empy feeds on my current multiswitch that I can run the lines from to the HDTV ahead of time.
