OK spent like an hour on the phone calling retention, customer service and then retention again. Trying to find out info about the HR20 and what my HD options are. I am a current D* cust. and I just bought my HDTV, it's still in the box. I want to upgrade to an HDTV receiver naturally. I kept getting the "we don't know when the HR20 will be available in your area.......sometime in the fall." Yet I see folks up in Boston and Long Island with scheduled install dates. Being in the middle (CT) I figured I would be due as well.

The last rep at retention was the most helpful but I still had to pleed. She said because it was my 1 year anniversary she had a free bee for me (wooptie doo). She gave me and H20 and 5 LNB dish with install for no charge.

It still kind of stinks because if I activate it I'm locked in for 2 years and then what leverage do I have to upgrade. I guess I have three options:

1.) I am thinking of canceling the service order and waiting it out (to keep my leverage) because now I have no commitment for service.

2.) When they call to schedule my install I was thinking of saying, ("I told customer service not to even bother unless I could get the HR20") However I doubt this will get me anywhere.

3.) The last option is I could cancel the order and then buy the dish and the HR20 on *Bay, comes with installation. You gotta love it, I can buy it on *Bay but I can't get it from D*!!!

Please help a newbie out.

I think the part that says "DIRECTV HD Rec. (Expanded HD Prog. Capable)" means you would be getting an HR20. The HR10 doesn't have that capability. If the installer doesn't show up with the correct box, you can refuse the installation.

I hope your right GH but I think the retention gal said I was getting a H20 regular HD receiver?
