Howdy folks.

Just had my Dish installation today and i've been playing around with my dvr features. This may be a really idiotic question, but here goes... Everytime I set up a recording and look at the "Timer Event" section, I see a little TV icon which says "DVR 2". Does that refer to which tuner it's recording with? I'm setting up the recordings through the TV where I would later like to view them (this is TV 1, remote and very top of the menus display TV1). And how can I make sure these are recorded in HD if the shows can be viewed in both HD and SD.

Thanks in advance!

Regardless of which tuner an event is recorded on, it can be viewed by either output TV1 or output TV2.

WARNING: what follows is an attempt to explain my simple answer which even to me seems confusing, so disregard it if you must.

Your 622 has 3 HD tuners. All can record independently. TV1 and TV2 are outputs not tuners. For live broadcasts Sat Tuner1 and the OTA tuner output to TV1 only and Sat tuner2 outputs to TV2 only, but for recorded material, they can be viewed on both TV1 and TV2.

If you are setup in dual mode (TV1 and TV2 as described above) then the default for recording is to record on the Sat tuner2, but this is configurable. Even if you setup the timer event while tuned to output TV1 the 622 will try to record timed events on Sat tuner2 - leaving sat tuner1 free if you want to record whatever you are watching in the present.

If you set up two overlaping timers the first will use sat tuner2, the second will use sat tuner 1.

Ah, thank you very much. That made sense... and basically put my fears at rest. I wasn't sure the way it was setting up the recordings if I'd be able to view them on my primary television set since it kept saying TV2. The receiver is just telling me it's default recording tuner is tuner 2 (freeing me up for recording/viewing on tuner 1).

Anyway, that's exactly what I needed to know. Although the interface seems a bit clunky when searching for recordings I'm sure I'll figure out ways to make my searches more efficient. So far, so good!

Thanks again.
