View Full Version : Question for HR20 hookup
This is the first DVR I will be installing. I have the 5 lnb dish and new multiswitch. My question is, are there differences between H20 hookup and the HR20? I noticed from the screenshots of the HR20 that there are 2 inputs for satellite signals. I know this question may seem basic for the experts, but do I need to have 2 signals from the multiswitch or 1?

The HR20 requires two sat inputs.. and the is the only real difference to the H20.
As far as hookups go.

Yes, you need to have 2 SAT signals from the multiiswitch, in order to use the dual recording features.
Other then that, the rest of the connections are the same.

So if I install it with only 1 line I can still record 1 channel and watch a different 1?
I plan on running a new line, but time is a issue. I almost refuse to allow another poor excuse of a installer in or near my house, much less in my attic. I am a general contractor so I have the skills for that type of work.

No.
The unit will only be able to tune 1 thing at a time.
1 cable = 1 tunned channel.... So it can only RECORD OR watch 1 at a time. You can record and WATCH a pre-recorded one though

Ok, thanks! Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge concerning this. I will have to make it a priority to run a second line.
I really do appreciate the quick responce to these questions! Now if I could just get a stronger signal on my MPEG4 reception.

No problem. That is what we do here.
As for the strong signal.... wrap your dish in Tin-Foil and paint a smiley face on it, so the SATs can see it from space and give you preferential signals...
BTW: :welcome_s
And that last part was a joke

Your humor is appreciated. I have had 3 techs here to get a better signal, they all say, NO PROBLEM! I do not think they have a clue.
