I seem to recall when the new NHL/OLN deal was announced that there some mention of The NHL Network coming to US tv, including D*. Anybody else remember this?
Any chance we'll see The NHL Network on D*?

Oh, that would be so sweet. We have 24-hour, football, basketball and college sports - 24-hour NHL would be GREAT!!
Then we could make a deal to get the Blue/White Channel. It's Toronto's version of YES - it's all Leafs all the time.

When DirecTV signed their last NHL Center Ice Contract The NHL Network was supposed to be included, but nothing happened. Then when the NHL signed their contract with OLN they said that Comcast would be working on bringing the NHL Network to the USA. Since then nothing.....
I wonder now even if the NHL Network does launch in the USA if it might only be available on Comcast? That would be a stupid move for the NHL but then when were they known for making good decisions when it comes to TV in the States?
And yes indeed it would be nice to get LeafsTV on DirecTV but I can't see that EVER happening.

Not likely to get LeafsTV on DirecTV, I think the whole country is carved up into RSN markets for the existing teams.
It was so much nicer when the teams had no clue about markets. I remember getting all the NY, Philly and Boston stations. If there wasn't an NHL game on, there was sure to be a college game.

Oh I agree....I'm not expecting it. DirecTV wont carry any Canadian channels and so I can't imagine they are about to change that.

I think the U.S. tv and satellite business thinks that all the Canadians live in Canada, and that there are none in the U.S. I would love Canadian channels on Directv and would be willing to pay for them. But it appears that will never happen. And I will not use "gray" market to get Canadian channels!!

Yeah, but why would CBC Newsworld and CTV Newsnet be blacked out. I can't understand why that would be a problem. We have Worlddirect service with all these channels from Russia, India, the Phillipines, etc. So, why nothing from Canada? I still can't understand it.

Me either, but you can probably thank Congress/ NAB for that.
Several cable systems near the Canadian border carry some Canadian stations. If I had Comcast instead of DTV, I would receive CBUT from Vancouver.
Newsworld International carried CBC's The National news program, but Al Gore bought NWI and converted it to Current.
I'd like to see more European (British. French German) content made available.

Al Gore, IMHO, created a station that is such a waste of bandwidth. NWI was worth watching. What annoys me is that Newscorp owns Sky, and yet we don't have any Sky channels on D* (They have CNN and other American channels over there on the Sky systems). We still don't have BBC World, whereas every other country in the world has it. I just can't understand the U.S. cable and satellite companies. Seems they think the only stuff worth viewing is stuff made in the U.S. Very narrow minded.

Thank the Discovery Channel for why we don't have BBC-World. They distribute all the BBC stuff in the US. Providers have to take a boatload of Discovery garbage before taking the BBC stuff.
