I'm a newbie at this, so bear with me and thanks in advance.

I am trying to find out which LNB will work with the Dish 500. I purchased one on eBay, but it had the "D" shaped connection and the dish arm is rectangular. Do I need a different model LNB or simply another piece to fit on the arm? I have seen the rectangular fittings on a dual LNB attachment, but I really only need the single LNB.

Thanks for reading and any advice provided!

mavmbami@yahoo.comSounds like your dish 500 is missing the "Y" adapter that goes on the end of the rectangular support, this also creates the correct distance from the dish for the focal points.:)

The "D" shape is for a Dual LNB, which is just one eye, not like a twin with 2 eyes. This is what I put on a D500 for sat 129, works a little better then a Twin. What sats or sat do you want to pick up?

There are two types of the plastic brackets:
"I" bracket is for single or dual LNB
"Y" bracket is for twin, quad, DPP, 2xsingles etc...

If you are trying to p/u one bird like 129, you'll need single DP lnb along with an "I" bracket.

I think he said his dish arm is already "D" shaped. So now we need to get answer to my question in my first post.

I've never seen Dish500 arm that would be D shaped... His arm is rectangular and his lnb is "D" shaped. that means that he will need an "I" adaptor or bracket... made for single or dual LNB.

Thanks.

Thanks guys. The "I" bracket is exactly what I am missing. Would having a "Y" with two LNBs be of any use if I only have one receiver?

Also, I was trying to use an LNBF with dual output. Is this the right one for the Dish 500?

Thanks for the info. Great site/great members!

Thx,
Patrick

PatrickIf you are trying to use a Dish 500 to pick up the 119 and 110 satellites (the main satellites for DISH) you need a "Y" adapter and a Legacy or Dish Pro TWIN LNBF. The Twin has the switch built in so you can receive broadcasting from both satellite locations.:)

Ok, thanks Boba. One last question...I looked at a picture of the TWIN LNB and it has two connections on the left, one on the right. Can you explain the connections? One a one receiver setup, isn't it just the cable back to the receiver?

There are 2 threaded fitting on all TWINS for 2 receivers 1 line goes to each receiver unless you are using a dual tuner receiver.:)
