I just got my new VIP622. The installer plugged it in the way I had my old cable system set up, but I'm thinking there may be a better way.
Currently I have a Toshiba Widescreen HDTV (HDMI and Componenet). THe Vip611 (HDMI and Component). An Onkyo HTR520 Receiver (only Component). A JVC VCR/DVD-R combo (Only Component and other for s-Video).
I had the cable box going out to my receive with componenet video and digital coax audio. My DVD/VCR has Componenet video and optial digital going to receiver for DVD's and s-video going straight to TV just for videos which we rarely ever play and don't really need surround for. Then from my Receiver I have Component going to my TV and I never use the tv speakers (unless playing videos), just the receiver.
However, the new DISH box has HDMI and it's supposed to be a much superior video signal, correct? But if my receiver doesn't have HDMI, how should I set this up?
I was thinking HDMI straight from Vip622 to TV, then the digital coax out to receiver and the video wouldn't switch through receiver. Keep the dvd/vcr the same and then I would have to switch receiver and tv input when I go back and forth but I would still get surround.
ANy ideas? Thanks.
