I just got my R15 installed about two hours ago and it seems to be working fine.
I have a question (suggestion).
Why isn't there a "favorites" button on the remote?
On my old Sony DTV receiver it was a breeze to get to your favorites.
There are buttons on the remote labeled "GUIDE" and "FAVORITES"
Just press Guide then FAVORITES. Each time you press the FAVORITES button it cycles through one of several favorite lists. If you just press GUIDE you get the entire channel list. Does Sony have a patent on this? Why has no one else incorporated this into their remote? It was sooooo... easy to use.

Yes, there's a way to set up favorites lists - two of them. I believe it's under menu->setup. I think that's it. And when set up the favorites list, you can name it whatever you want, and then change your guide to use your favorites list, instead of the entire channel list. To change which channel list you want, hit menu->favorites. Whichever you select will show up on the top of your guide list the next time you hit guide. Personally, I wish there was an easier way to cycle through them, like you mention (my old Hughes receiver had that capability). Or at the very least I wish there was a way to customize your filters list (what you see when you hit guide the first time). Let me put both of my favorites lists up there, in addition to all channels. That way I could hit guide and then pick whichever list I wanted... But you can't do that.

I personally would like to see more than two lists of favorites.
But maybe that's just me.

My old Dish PVR510 was the same way. Really miss that.

No, it's not just you.

I LOVED the fact that dishTV has as many favorite lists as we wanted (had at least 6) and you just hit guide over and over to cycle through. Plus the guide changed colors for different favorites. Cannot BELEIVE Direct doesn't do this. It's like buying a car with the horn switch installed on the floor instead of the steering wheel.

I can see one point that I will already be not satisfied with.
Yes, with DishN it was great to have a kids favs, wife's favs, football favs, etc. It baffles me that DTV has not done something so simple as this.
I hope I can at least block out the channels that I am not subscribing to, like with DishN?
I could view the whole list of channels and those I did not have were in red and I simply unchecked that box. If I don't have it, why should I have to see it listed, like Concast...
You can set up 2 sets of favorites, but it's not convenient to switch between them. And, you can set one up for the channels you receive, but you have to do it manually. At least for the time being.

Unreal. Like a car that doesn't have a windshield.. just sheet metal blocking your view making it very hard to drive by being forced to stick your head out the side window.. JUST LIKE THAT... :)... really is very crippling.
SO stupid.. can't believe what people are thinking.
Also.. why a 25 limit on the search history? is RAM that expensive that you can't add more than 4K? UNREAL. SHould have a history of 500. I for sure used up at least 80 on DISH and ran out of room there too.. but TWENTY FIVE?

I was looking at the DTV pdf, there is a "Channels I Get" selection in the favs menu, in addition to the 2 custom faves sorts.

That is correct, but for now this feature is not accurately available, as it was basically cut off some time back due to different factors.
