I'm contemplating returning to E* from D*. For both content and value reasons I'm considering the DishFamily pack. *BUT*, I also want HD content (in particular Discovery, Food, HGTV, and the ESPNs). Is there any HD add-on to DishFamily? (I don't see it as an option on the web site).

I'd like to get the ViP622 receiver, so any info on additional fees would be welcome too.

If such a combination was possible it would be superior, IMO, to DishHD Bronze...

They removed the option but when they did have an HD addon it was $30 so it would end up the same price as Bronze. If you get a 622 without Bronze you also get dinged $6 for not having a new hd package.

Probably too many of the HD channels carry non-family-friendly programming, so unless Dish created a subset of just the family HD channels that would qualify... and then it would probably only be a few channels left for the DishFamily pack.

I think your only option would be Bronze, and then lock the channels you don't want. Currently Dish only has the one suite of HD channels, (with a few premiums and addons at Gold) and a number of them are definitely inappropriate for kids.

Personally I like the channels, but I have them locked with a password, so the kids can't access those channels or recordings.

Channels like Monster, IFC, HDNET, HDN Movies etc, often have shows that I wouldn't want the kids to watch.
