I just activated an HR10-250 last night and my only problem is that the IR transmission from the Tivo peanut remotes are too wide. My wife's SD Tivo is on the other side of the 46" TV, but it responds to all the commands I am sending mine. Is there a way to set these remotes to different codes so that they won't activate the wrong receiver? I looked through the menus, but the Remote Setup screen only seems to apply to TV and AV setup. Is there a command code somewhere that I can't find? I had the same problem with my ReplayTV's, but putting them on opposite side of the TV works fine for them.

You change the remote control address on one of them..

Messages and Setup

System Information

Drill down until you see "Remote Address"

Point the remote control away from the DVR's (make sure you cover the front of the remote with your hand or something) and then press the DirecTV button and the Pause button until the red LED comes on and stays on, then of course release them.

Now point the remote at the DVR that you want to change the remote address on and press 1, then press the right arrow. The remote address in the system information screen should change to 1.

Then if needed, just repeat the same steps for the second DVR to change it to either zero, which is the natural default, or two.

Make sure that when you do this that the other DVR's IR sensor is covered with something, that way it is not being interfered with.

Actually, you need to change both of them.....if you leave one at zero it will still control, as well as be controlled, by the other one.

Thanks for the info, guys. Turns out that while I was waiting for a reply, I actually read the manual and found the info there. First time for everything. Also set the skip to tick for 30 second advance and used that last night. Although I like the way Tivo automatically jumps back as you come out of FF, I prefer never seeing the commercials at all.

Joe if you are going to keep both DVR receivers and want only one remote, use the Tivo remote from Weakness that will control both! At $29 you can't beat it. Have used mine for over one year now. I have the same set-up Check it out...http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-peanut-remote.php
