Basic question here: If I can currently receiver sats 101, 110, and 119 w/ my TripleLNB Multisatellite dish, can anyone see any reason why I will not/could not be able to receiver all five sats using an AT9 dish?

I don't see that it should be a problem, thus I'm thinking I might buy the dish and install it myself. I really detest having the installers come out to my house.

Unless there are some trees or other obstructions very close to where the 101 LNB is looking you shouldn't have a problem. Check out the installation videos here:

:) No there should be no problem. Sat window is the same. Only situation that could arise is if the location of your current 3 LNB dish cannot support the weight of the new dish and mount. Mount has to tie into the frame of the house since the dish weighs in at about 32 pounds.

I currently have the MultiSatellite dish on a pole mount in the yard.... I thought I had read before that most installers preferred a pole mount for the AT9 due to its weight.

Hopefully this wouldn't be an issue.

The mast/pipe diameter is different, so you will need an adapter of some type for your pole.

The AT9 points at the 101 satellite, while the 3-LNB points at 110. Keep that in mind when doing the install.

The geometry of the dish is not the same as the old 3 LNB dish, but the view of the sky (window) is still the same plus an extra 2 degrees for the 99 sat.

I actually bought a thicker, 1.5 inch pipe for the MultiSatellite dish even though the installation instructions called for a one inch pipe.

I'm guessing this would be sufficient for the AT9.

Thank you to everyone for the responses.... now I just have to decide if I want to do it or not.

The AT9 uses a 2" pipe.

Crap.

I already have this one securely in the ground w/ bags of concrete... I suppose I could probably add some sort of modification to the pole to fix this.

You can buy an adapter to from the 1.5" to 2" pipe.

See this URL: http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?PROD=SKY1101

Solid signal has it and there may be other dealers to.

PS: If you get one, be carefull torqueing down the bolst, the threads can strip. Also, if you have it on hand for the install the install will go better. You can also ask if they can provide the adaptor.
