Hello All,

Question 1

I need help. I am installing a Dish 1000 with 622 and 211 receivers. I am pointing the dish and can get 110 and 119 locked in great (Signal Strength 85+). When I try to lock in 129 I Get a signal strength of 80 but when it goes to identify the satillite is says "Wrong Sat - 110." I Have read the threads on the difficulties of locking in 129 and getting good signal strength, but I can't even get close - why is it saying wrong sat? Ignoring 110 and 119 if I try to just lock in 129 I can't get it to identify 129 anywhere. Any ideas?

Question 2
In the point satillite screen my options for systems are "300, 500, SuperDish", that's it. Dish 1000 is not an option. I have been using 500, which gives me the elevation, azimuth and skew. Those settings lock in 110 and 119 great. Is this correct?

Question 3
Where can I find a list of what sattilites brodcast which channels? Is there anything on 129 worth investing this time in?

Thanks so much for any help.

- Joe.

Welcome to DBSTalk, Joe. :hi:

Skew may be different between a Dish500 and a Dish1000, and the elevation may be a little different as well. But, there isn't a Dish1000 option in the point dish screen.

Once you got 119 and 110 locked in, did you do a check switch on your receivers? That'll tell you if it's seeing 129 at all or not. If it is, then go back to the point dish screen, and it'll probably lock onto 129. And, I've seen my 622 take 30 or 40 seconds to display the 129 locked message when I change from 110 to 129 in the point dish screen. Did you give it that much time to change the message?

If, after the check switch you're in fact not seeing 129, then your skew is off.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply. If I do the switch test it indeed does recognize 129 but the little block is red indicating a bad/wrong signal. This morning it indicates it is not receiving any signal (just a grayed out x) whereas last night it was reporting "Wrong Sat". I'll try what you suggested. I did aligning it two ways

1) I locked in 110 and 119 at the highest signal strength then rotated the skew many angles to try to get 129 - no luck. I did wait in between adjustments, but perhaps not long enough.

2) I disregarded 110 and 119 and just tried to get a good 129 signal. I could get a good signal strength but then when it went to fetch the satellite's name it just came up "Wrong Sat".

Frustrating....

Thanks.

Don't you have the install book that came with the 1000? That's where you get your elevation and skew setting. If you send me your zipcode (email would be best to remind me - address is in my signature), I'll try to remember to look it up in my Dish1000 install book.

There is a link to those settings on the EKB's Dish 1000 (http://ekb.dbstalk.com/Dish1000.htm) page.

Joe - if you're in 597XX, your Dish1000 settings should be:

Azimuth - 174 degrees
Elevation - 35 degrees
Skew - 97 degrees

Joe,

Is it possible you are aimed at 101, 110 and 119? If you feed the output from the single LNB (129) directly to the receiver, (after clearing the switch settings) then you could see (and aim) what satellite you are focussing to. You can also cover the 110 and 129 LNB feedhorns with aluminum foil to make sure you are aiming the 119 LNB to 119.

Thanks for looking that up Mark, yes my zip code is 597xx. No, I don't have a manual for the Dish 1000. I bought everything at radio shack. The receivers came boxed but the dish came in pieces, they said they buy everytihing in bulk, seemed kind of weird. I tried to locate a manual online and no luck. Found lots on dish 500 but nothing on 1000.

Those angles you gave me are slightly different than what I am using and I will try those, I think my elevation is set to 173 rather than 174 because that is what the dish 500 set up said. I am certain through my hours of pointing I tried 174 but I will try all this again.

Thanks Again.

Q 1. How many LNBs are you pointing with on your Dish 1000? Two or Three? I'm assuming you have three plugged in which is what is needed. You need to run a LNB for each Satillite. Wrong Sat on 110 just change the Transmitter number til you find a spotbeam. It should work on Transponder 7.

Q2. Just use Dish 500

Q3. Right at this website.. type in dbstalk.com/dishlist.htm

Good Luck.
